RELATED OF MOTHER`S KNOWLEDGE ABOUT EARLY TREATMENT


ACUTE RESPIRATORY INFECTION (ARI) IN CHILDREN UNDER FIVE
YEARS WITH THE SEVERITY OF ACUTE RESPIRATORY INFECTION (ARI)
IN PUSKESMAS PEKAUMAN BANJARMASIN

Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) ARI is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in children
toodlers. Banjarmasin particularly Pekauman region is one of the areas with a number of fairly
high incidence of ARI. A total of 3,531 infants exposed to ARI non-pneumonia in Puskesmas
Pekauman Banjarmasin. This study aims to determine the relationship of mother's knowledge
about the early treatment Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) children under five years with the
severity of the treatment ARI in Puskesmas Pekauman Banjarmasin. The design of the study is
observational analytic cross-sectional approach. Samples were obtained through systematic
random sampling technique with a number of 50 people. The research found women with
knowledge about the early treatment Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) children under five years
with good (34%), women with knowledge about the early treatment Acute Respiratory Infection
(ARI) children under five years with moderate (54%), women with knowledge about the early
treatment Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) children under five years with less (6%). Toddlers
with mild ARI symptoms (46%), and children with symptoms of ARI moderate (54%). Analysis of
survey data using Spearman statistical test. In conclusion, there is a significant association
between maternal knowledge about the early handling of the severity of the toddler ARI ARI in
Puskesmas Pekauman Banjarmasin got value (p = 0.021). The better a mother's knowledge about
the early treatment of respiratory disease, the lower the severity of acute respiratory infection that
affects children under five years.
