Educational Multimedia Center

A facility that houses multi-media resources of information in printed or
audio-visual form, for the use of learners, teachers, and others.

Purposes of Educational Multimedia Center:

To encourage self-instruction, whether supervised or entirely independent.

To provide facilities for individuals working on their own or in small groups or
whole class
To allow research or document study.
To provide a wide range of equipment for the production and reproduction of
software by and for teachers and learners: transparencies, films, sound
recordings, slide-tape sequences, photo-copying, photography, video etc.

Equipment Found in the Educational Multimedia Center:

Audio-Visual Facility
Recording Room
Interactive Board
Computers and network
Library
Others

Advantage:

An educational multimedia center will dramatically change the effectiveness

and efficiency of classroom instruction thus empowering the learning process. It
gives the avenue for learners to explore independently and showcase their
potentials. With the presence of an educational multimedia center, the teacher is
merely a facilitator. A whole lot of information resource is made available to the
learners.

Disadvantage:

The reason why only very few learning institutions have this despite its huge
advantage is that, its very expensive to build. Aside from the costly equipment, a
range of competent technical staff is also required to operate and maintain the
educational learning center.
Reflection:

Having an educational multimedia center is like a dream coming true. But

were hoping that one day will be affordable for our schools. Surely, with the
eventual necessity for technology, we are going to have it sometime in the future.
For now, we can be resourceful and creative in utilizing whatever is available to us.
The lack of this fancy technology doesnt hinder learning in any way.
