Seventh Grade Meeting Minutes

January 23, 2017


1. Reminder all teachers need to schedule the mid-year check in with Mr. Kramer (via
Megan)
2. Spring Conferences:
a. Individual conferences
i. Ella Bailey - attitude, academic
ii. Keagan Klinger- positive update
iii. Zach Edgington - attendance, behavior, academic
iv. Gabe Romero - work completion, sleepiness
v. Evan LaRue - behavior, effort, review behavior process
vi. Tay Keys - review behavior process
vii. Breken Gerling - effort/motivation

November 28, 2016


1. Awards assembly went well.
a. Suggestions add extra activity to ice cream.
b. Have someone collect non-participants to deliver to room, and do not allow to leave and wander
hallways.
2. Referrals
a. Need to ALL document teacher-handled behavior.
b. Minor infractions could be raised to three strikes.
c. Need a third choice rather than major and minor. Some behavior just needs to be documented
to look for patterns, like sleeping in class.
3. Seventh Grade Projects
a. Science Fair (if 6th grade not doing it)
b. Trip Fair (similar to culture fair, but economic plan in addition with a specific budget)
c. Small Business -Doig volunteered to teach introductory economics and U. S. economics as part
of his curriculum. Luetje suggested Shark Tank approval process. Pool Lohse money as starter
capital. Doigs classes, teams of 4 to 6 per group, so 24 competing teams in all of seventh
grade.
4. Tech/PD Day
a. Monitoring software/plan
b. Google Classroom refresher
5. Spend Lohse money ASAP
6. Party of BlueJays
a. Frogs - dead and preserved, preferably
b. Starter capital for Small business projects ($500)
c. Scholastic writing contest entry fees (12 students x $5 each, $60 total)

2. School-wide academic honesty policy
a. Needs to be added to handbook
b. Needs to be somewhat uniform - Infinite campus allows labeling Ch, but not uniform as to
whether retakes are allowed, reporting to parents
3. IEP Meetings
a. Tyler Voll - Nov. 4 @ 330
b. Kelsey Cleghorn - Nov. 29 @ 330
4. Halloween Band & Reading & Language Arts Performance
a. Oct. 28 - Periods 3 & 4
b. Oct. 31 - Period 4 & 5
5. November last week before Thanksgiving, LA classes read to first graders which will only affect
some students in Period 7.
6. Newsletter - October Monarch release, May 12 Chichaqua
7. Student Concerns
a. Keagen Klinger - backpack, elopement, pattern of not following directions
b. Tay Keys - needs to stay in class
c. Preston Shannon - emotionally fragile, not on Power Hour this week
d. Gabe Romero - Not completing work, starting confrontations. Mr. Doig has him coming in every
morning. Talks to Ms. Moe about finishing work in supervised study hall. Do not seat by Tyler
Voll even at lunch.
e. Autumn Murray - needs lots of emotional support, but too much self-created drama. Limit trips to
Jen Turner.
8. Online Textbook - Training session during Nest presented by Blue Crew?/Alex Kitchen?
a. One document with links to all online textbooks
b. Template so each student can get own copy and put in passwords
c. Mr. Kramer suggested sending a note to Alex and Kyle asking if they could create something.

October 7, 2016
1. Students at risk
a. Gabe Romero - mom says send to Power Hour, just let her know. Team suggested every
Tuesday and Thursday for awhile.
b. Gianna Gazzo - doing okay academically, often at Power Hour for math
2. Career Development Plans
a. Collaborating and discussing ideas.
b. Due October 18, so get content teams on that.

4. Uniform Pass Policy
a. Paper passes available?
b. Teacher needs to send a pass if they want students to come to their room during a time when
they have another class.
5. Could we add some individual conferences in the fall?
a. Some students need early intervention, and this shouldnt wait until spring.
b. Perhaps an hour one night could be scheduled with parents.

1. Author chat went well. Thank you Alex Kitchen for technical support.
2. Google Classroom
a. Can use existing documents, just turn into Google Doc.
b. Can schedule classes, but has to be set for each class.
3. Field trip May 12 to Chichaqua.
4. Friday intervention is a choice between IXL, typing.com, or reading.
5. Chromebook Misuse - Reading Class will notify students later this week or Monday
a. Policy no off task behavior in class unless specifically a teacher said it is okay.
b. First offense posted on the list, warning, individual teacher can impose penalty in his or her
class.
c. Second offense posted on the list and email home, no computer use the next day.
d. Third offense posted on the list, two days no using the computer all day.
e. Fourth offense posted on the list notify parents, restrict computer to only school-related
functions.
6. Associates will be chasing students instead of being timely to classes.
7. Tardies: Are we tracking for detentions?
