Brown Bag Book Report

Like Santas sack, a book contains all sorts of interesting surprises.

Sharing some of them is a fun way to interest potential readers.

Directions:

1. As you read your book, make a list of interesting objects that are important to the story.
For an example, in Snow White, the list might include the mirror and the poisoned
apple.

2. Choose four or five of the objects. Then draw a picture of each one or find a real
example. For instance, if one of the things on the list is a key, you might use a real
key.

3. Write a few sentences about each object. Tell why each object is important to the story.
This should be done in your best hand writing, printing, or be typed.

4. Write a summary that includes the books title and author. The summary should explain
the important details of the story. This should be done in your best hand writing,
printing, or be typed, and have no spelling or punctuation errors. Place this
summary in your bag.

5. On the front of the bag, draw a picture that shows what your story is all about. Look at
your own book, what does it have on the front cover? You can copy it or better yet,
come up with your own original drawing.

6. Write a few sentences about the author. Place this information on one of the side
panels of the bag. If you can find a picture of the author, put it on too. On the other
side panel, make a list of other books that this author has written.

7. Put all the drawings and/or real objects into the bag.

8. Rehearse your presentation. As you talk, bring out the pictures and real objects one at a
time. Use them to tell about your book.

9. Give your presentation for real.

* Parents, please help your child by reading the book with them or to them if necessary.

* Please note that copying something from your book word for word or in any part is plagiarism
and is not permitted in the completion of this report. You must write the report in your own
words. An incomplete will be given to those who plagiarize.
