during the anti-firecracker campaign.

The school community of J. Zamora Elementary School welcomed the Department of

Health and the EcoWaste Coalition on its anti-firecracker awareness program as it
raised the childrens consciousness on the hazards of fireworks and opt to use
alternative noisemakers in welcoming the New Year.

Students enjoy using lab gadgets and WiFi connectivity at the

JZES GFS lab
August 22 marked the rebirth of JZES from a pilot school in Pandacan to a Global
Filipino School through the social investment from Chevron Philippines, Ayala
Foundation and Globe Telecom which empowers schools into becoming 21st-
century-ready educational institutions.

Jacinto Zamora Elementary School in Pandacan, Manila received a computer laboratory equipped with
laptop computers and tablets, Internet connectivity, and other peripherals. More than the hardware, GFS
provides ICT-proficiency training for teachers. This equips them with the skills necessary to use various
aspects of information and communication technology in improving learning, while also helping them
enhance the classroom experience. The teacher-training component of the program is conducted by Ayala
Foundations Training Institute program.

We in Chevron believe in the power of education to drive both personal and economic growth. GFS aligns
well with our Caltex Energy for Learning programs focus on sustainable empowerment through education,
said Peter Morris, country chairman of Chevron Philippines. It is our hope that this program will build the
capacity of the public school students and their teachers in our host communities to become at par with the
rest of the global digital generation. Chevron markets Caltex products in the country.
The school was officially recognized as GFS held at the JZES Social Hall attended by key officials from
Caltex, Ayala Foundation, Globe Telecom, the Department of Education, and the City Government of
Manila.

After the launch, GFS held training sessions for teachers which cover ICT lab maintenance, on top of the
Training Institute curriculum, which focuses on the following areas: classroom pedagogy, development of
critical thinking skills, values clarification, and use of technology in the classroom.

Jacinto Zamora Elementary School is the third school to be part of the expanded GFS program.
