I. INTRODUCTION
The Bachelor of Secondary Education students of Our Lady of the Pillar College -
San Manuel Inc. are proud to present our Outreach Program for the year 2023. This program
aims to serve the local communities of Brgy. Mananao, Nueva Era, Malalinta, and Dist 4 in
San Manuel, Isabela. Our program will run every Saturday, from May 6 to June 24, 2023, and
will include a variety of activities such as mental health and vice awareness seminars, grocery
item distribution to marginalized groups, Microsoft Office tutorial, seminar on the pros and
cons of social media, community service, signages making for ecology, and recycling
seminar.
Through our Outreach Program, we aim to promote the importance of mental and vice
awareness, provide basic necessities to those who are in need, and educate the community on
essential skills such as computer literacy and recycling. We hope to foster a sense of
community spirit among the locals and inspire them to act towards creating a sustainable
future.
We believe that education plays a crucial role in empowering individuals and
communities, and we are committed to making a positive impact through our Outreach
Program. We are excited to work with the community and look forward to creating a
meaningful and impactful experience for everyone involved.

II.BACKGROUND
The Outreach Program organized by the Bachelor of Secondary Education students of
Our Lady of the Pillar College - San Manuel Inc. serves an important purpose in the local
communities of Brgy. Mananao, Nueva Era, Malalinta, and Dist 4 in San Manuel, Isabela.
The program aims to spread awareness of Social, Ecological, and Media Literacy amongst
people of all ages and backgrounds.
In today's world, the rise of social media has had a significant impact on the way we
communicate, learn, and interact with one another. As a result, it has become increasingly
important to educate individuals on the responsible use of these platforms, their potential
pitfalls, and how to leverage them positively. The Outreach Program will provide an
opportunity for participants to learn about the pros and cons of social media, including its
impact on mental health, social relationships, and even employability.
In addition to social media literacy, the Outreach Program will also focus on
ecological literacy. The program recognizes the need for environmental awareness,
particularly in the face of climate change and the ecological crisis. The program will provide
an opportunity for participants to learn about the importance of recycling, waste reduction,
and the sustainable use of resources. The signages making for ecology will also serve as a

Inc.

College Department S.Y. 2022– 2023

way to promote environmental awareness and encourage the community to take action
towards a more sustainable future.
Lastly, the Outreach Program will tackle mental health and vice awareness, an
essential aspect of education that is often overlooked. The program recognizes the importance
of mental health and its impact on the overall well-being of an individual. The Vice
Awareness Seminar will educate participants on the harmful effects of vices such as smoking,
drinking, and drug abuse. The Mental Health Awareness Seminar will focus on the
importance of mental health and the need for open conversations about mental health issues.
The program aims to break the stigma surrounding mental health and promote a culture of
openness and understanding.
Overall, the Outreach Program organized by the Bachelor of Secondary Education
students of Our Lady of the Pillar College - San Manuel Inc. is a crucial initiative to spread
awareness and education on essential topics such as Social, Ecological, and Media Literacy,
mental health, and vice awareness. Through this program, the organizers hope to make a
meaningful and positive impact on the local communities of San Manuel, Isabela.

III. PROJECT DESCRIPTIONS

Workplan:

Service of Future: An Outreach and Education Program, "We Are the Future"
Campaign, is set up, which includes various outreach activities like mental health and vice
awareness seminars, computer and media literacy, environmental protection, and a giving
program. This program seeks to develop young people's responsibility, self-esteem, and
sensitivity to the needs of others and the community. Furthermore, it provides an opportunity
to spread knowledge and select competencies that will contribute to their standard of living.
This has become a component of education that the higher education commission on
education is carrying out to ensure that the town's status is improving. As a result, the third-
year students at the College of Teaching and Education decided to perform community
service from May 6 to June 10. The activity will primarily take place on Saturdays.

We require financial resources, materials, school supplies, technology, and

mechanical tools (projector, speaker, and so on) for the fulfillment of this objective. We
opted to search for sponsors and each member's contribution for funding in order to make the
initiative a reality. We are going to incorporate a variety of activities into each session to
keep people engaged and enjoying the experience. Recycling, making a presentation,
producing art, sharing, and playing fun games are among the activities available. Each
seminar will also include a speaker who will deliver the message. There is also a feeding
facility. Moreover, the location and participants have already been determined.

College Department S.Y. 2022– 2023

Lastly, we, third-year students of the College of Teacher and Education, in order to be
productive in our outreach program, must work diligently and collaboratively as a team, with
a strong feeling of dedication to service. To ensure the project's success and effectiveness,
each team member must accept responsibility for their given tasks. Participants are expected
to absorb valuable lessons, find the event worthwhile, and apply what they have learnt in
their daily lives as a result of this program.

Site:
The Implementors will conduct the outreach program in chosen areas in San Manuel
namely Nueva Era National Highschool for the mental health awareness seminar; Sitio
Mananao for the media and computer literacy seminars; District 4 for the environmental
protection and community service; Malalinta for the vice awareness seminar and house-to-
house for Abot-Tulong.

Prospective Participants:
The proponents are directly targeting to impart literacy within the range of ages 12-18
in each selected location. It is expected that at least 20 and maximum of 60 young people are
going to each event of our Outreach program compromising of male and female.

IV. PROJECT, ORGANIZATION, AND STAFFING

The volunteers in charge of the activities will make certain that every participant in
the program actively engages in the allocated activities. Meanwhile, the assigned facilitators
will emphasize others safety on the premises and keep order in the activity area during the
activities. The activity facilitators will lead the participant through the activities and provide
all essential materials. In addition, a program coordinator will be assigned to plan the
program's activities and ensure a seamless flow of events. Someone will also be appointed to
manage the food area and assist with dinner preparation for the youngsters.

Overall, the activity volunteers, facilitators, program coordinator, and food area
personnel will work together to ensure that the program has a safe, engaging, and enjoyable
experience.

VI. Expected Outcomes

The primary objective of an outreach program is to bring about positive change or
growth in a certain community or group. This could include increased community awareness
and education about a specific issue, improved access to resources or services, or improved
social cohesiveness and connectedness among members. Lastly, the effectiveness of an
outreach program may be judged by the concrete impact it has on its target audience, whether
that impact is in the form of improved outcomes, more involvement, or favorable feedback
from those who participated.
Thus, at the end of the Outreach Program the implementors are expected to continue
the spirit of service; manage and implement a project or program; develop skills in
communication; and to influence fellow citizen to become literate in different aspects in life.
On the other hand, the intended participants are likely to recognize the importance of
mental health; to develop self-awareness and debunk stigma in mental health issues; to
develop skills in computer and media such as Microsoft editing, creation of PowerPoint
presentations, and use of excel; to categorize fake news and credible sources; to recognize the
benefit and downside of social media; to recreate a product from defaced materials; to
became stewards and promoter of environmental protection through creating signages; and to
discern good vices over bad vices.
