● COMPETENCE - To showcase the capability of organizing and planning a
community venture that not only goes in line with the laws and different
guidelines but is also possible to execute within an appropriate time-frame
and budget. By successfully enacting the plan mentioned and explained
within this paper, short-term and long-term benefits may be felt and
acknowledged by the project's target people.
● CHRISTIAN SPIRIT - To foster and nurture a Christian's values and intertwine
them into life-giving acts and services in line with a chemical engineering
student's skill set. These actions may further the student and the
environment surrounding him or her towards the fullness of life.
● CREATIVITY - The present world is changing rapidly by learning only a
specific skill set and sticking to it permanently would yield us almost
nothing beneficial. What prepares students for life beyond the classroom
is learning how to be more creative, which includes flexibility in perception
and execution of tasks. This includes practicing and executing skills out of
our respective engineering fields.
● SOCIAL INVOLVEMENT - This can be met by embracing and encouraging
participation and carefully mapping out the needs, opinions and visions of
local communities on issues that matter to them. It promotes sustainable
decisions by recognizing and communicating the needs and interests of
all participants. Emphasizing collaboration and the promise of influence
on decision making, the importance of community engagement is clear
as it drives social transformation.

V. RATIONALE
In the wake of three typhoons hitting our country, the Philippines
experienced numerous catastrophic floods and landslides not only in
Visayas but also in Luzon. Although the typhoon did not stay long in the
lands with a mass population, it has caused severe direct and indirect
effects to several parts of Luzon. Homes were flooded, poles were broken,
electricity was unavailable and crops were destroyed; these were a few
of the direct effects our fellow Filipinos have faced. Moreover, we saw
the indirect devastating effects of these storms on the people of
Cagayan because the floodgates in Magat Dam were opened to
prevent topping the dam. With that, the group plans on doing outreach
programs in several unique ways. Since this project aspires to sociological
integrity, it will comprise various social nurturing activities which will be
initiated mainly by its members in partnership with non - governmental
and governmental agencies and non-profit organizations just to flow the
mission to the Cagayanes/Cagayanos.

phenomena. This will also prove that Saint Louis University unwaveringly
supports these kinds of projects because they also want to help them
achieve good values and characteristics. Thus, all of these are in line with
the core values which were above mentioned.

VII. APPENDICES
A. Plan Design / Program of Activities
The students proposed the project (Laban Para Sa Cagayan) in the School of
Engineering and Architecture (SEA) of Saint Louis University, Baguio City. This
project was done from November 15, 2020, to December15 , 2020. TSince this
project was under the course and supervision of the NSTP-1 promoted by the
University of St. Louis as an institution, many members of different communities
were reached due to this event. This also helped develop the students' values
and personalities, especially social commitment to the community, most
especially to the volunteers and spearheads of this activity. The members were
able to show their concern and sympathy for those who struggle outside the
comfort of their home. Their creativity and Christian spirit were carried out as
Louisian students as the fellow Filipinos needed their help and did not ignore
those who have taken action on this matter. Also, this project ventured into
online selling like clothes retail and drawing commissions that not only raised the
funds to buy the needs of the Cagayan but also gave us the avenue to

experience the working life. We also started streaming popular video games for
a cause wherein the stars (points that have monetary value) went directly to the
donation drives. The program was initiated by the students of Bachelor of
Science in Chemical Engineering along with the students of Bachelor of Science
in Mechanical Engineering with the code 7023 NSTP - CWTS 1.
