In the beginning of February, our beloved groundhog saw his shadow and
predicted six more weeks of winter. With a cold February under our belt,
weve only got two weeks to go before warm weather, parent teacher
conferences, and the St. Patricks Day Dance! March is a busy month for our
students and teachers with Pajama parties, the second grade art museum,
and the Middle School PARCC Exam at the end of the month.

As you know, each month we choose a CIRCLE Value to focus on. The circle
values are six words that embody the emotional, social, and moral
development that goes hand in hand with academic excellence. Out of
Community, Independence, Respect, Courage, Leadership, and Effort, we
decided to focus on Community for March. With a turbulent year as a nation
behind us, we must rise up and recognize our diverse community as the
bedrock and foundation for LCCSs success.

The Community value is the first of the Circle Values and one of the more
important. We take the responsibility of mentoring chldren in their most
formative years very seriously and rely heavily on our inclusive ideol ogy to
guide students into young adulthood. This year has made clear that the strongest
communities lie in their diversity of opinions, backgrounds, and upbringings. We
will strive through the month of March to speak responsibly to students about the
importance of building a strong and accepting Community.

Another exciting event in March is the 2nd Grade Art Museum, starting at 9
a.m. in the Cafeteria. This Museum will showcase the great work our second
graders have been doing with Ms. Schifter.

There is no school on March 17. We will celebrate National History day at

LCCS with readings from many different time periods and a presentation
curated by our 4th graders. They studied American and Colonial History at the
beginning of the year nd have moved on to European and Latin American
History. They also have a special exhibit on Black History Month.

So long as we tough out the last few weeks of winter, we should be welcomed
by sunlight and warmth in the coming weeks. We hope to see you around in
March!
