Introduction
In this course, we will be discussing various themes from identity, race,
money, status, and much more. We will think of these themes in terms or
when the texts were written and how they relate to present day. That being
said, we will discuss events happening in the daily news. Not only to learn to
discuss events, but also to study the different writing styles. We will take all
these styles we learn, and try them out.

Late Policy
I accept NO late work, however, I do give you FOUR late passes that

to it. At the end of the quarter if you have passes left over, they can be
turned in for extra credit.

Absence Policy
If you have an excused absence, you have the same amount of days
you were absent to make up the work. Meaning, if you were gone
Monday but came on the next day being Tuesday, you will get any
makeup work on Tuesday and have it ready to turn in Wednesday.
You can collect any makeup work in the Absent Binder and ask a
friend/classmate for any makeup notes
If you have an unexcused absence, you will not be allowed to make up
the work.

Bathroom Policy
If you have to go to the restroom, you will have to use one of your
bathroom passes. I will give you FOUR passes at the start of each

They will change color each time, you cannot collect all your passes to
continue using at the end of each quarter.
