A Teacher Affects Eternity

Your teaching affects eternity,
where your influence ends you'll never know.
The lessons that you teach today,
stay with us as we grow.
Your teaching affects eternity,
my heart knows this is true.
So for all I'll be tomorrow,
today, I'm thanking you.

REGISTRATION CONTINUES
Registration for the 2017-2018 school year is quickly approaching as the new school year starts on August 14, 2017.
Parents please make sure you are registered in Infinite Campus. You should have a log-in and password. If you have
not yet created your log-in and password, come into the office at Walker and see Mrs. Hodge. She will provide you
with instructions of how to set up your account. If you have a log-in, but have forgotten the password, come into the
schools office with your identification so that new password can be set-up. Please refer to the attached flyer.

GOOD HEALTH
In a recent article in Psychology Today magazine, it addressed the importance of exercising before school
to improve good health. There have been numerous studies that have been done to measure the
relationship between physical activity, cognitive function, and academic performance. Here is what they
found. (1.) The combination of motor skills and aerobic fitness improves academics. (2.) Exercise creates
more efficient white matter and brain connectivity. (3.) Exercise before school improves focus and reduces
ADHD symptoms. (4.) Taking Brain Breaks improves classroom performance. (5.) Lifting weights can
improve memory. Five to ten minutes each day will make a difference.

NATIONAL NURSES DAY

National Nurses Day is observed annually to raise awareness of all nurse contributions and commitments
to our country. We acknowledge the vital role that Mrs. Webb and Mrs. Thomas play in our
school. National Nurses Week begins May 6th and ends on May 12th, the birthday of Florence
Nightingale. Florence Nightingale was a celebrated English, social reformer, statistician and the founder of
modern nursing. She became well-known while taking care of the wounded soldiers during the Crimean
War. Nightingale was dubbed The Lady with the Lamp because of her habit of making rounds at night.
