Greetings from J. Marlan Walker International School Elementary! We
believe that our school is a place where critical thinking is taking place,
collaboration and dialogue are occurring daily, and rigorous learning is
being achieved within a positive and caring environment. We believe
that our standard of achievement sets us apart. And we believe that
our parents are an integral part of our students success. We are truly
thankful for our students, parents, and faculty.
Just a friendly Reminder that on October 11, 2016 Mrs. Sorensen, our
cafeteria supervisor will be rolling over all free/reduced students that
do not have an application on file to paid status. Parents, if this applicable to your children, please respond
immediately.
Mrs. Lindley has made some adjustments so more of our second, third, fourth and fifth grade students have an
opportunity daily to purchase from the Snack Shack during recess.
We are continuing to push our school fundraiser with Dominos Pizza. Orders can be placed by calling (702) 5653030, online at Dominos.com* or at their location: 971 South Boulder Highway in Henderson. Please mention our
school when using the purchase flyer form. Lucky for us Dominos will donate 20% of your order back to Walker!

PTA NEWS

Trunk or Treat:
Please join us for Trunk or Treat on October 21, 2016 from 6-9 p.m. PTA is asking for volunteers to help decorate
Treat Street and make signs. We are also asking for people to sign up to have a car in Treat Street. Additionally,
we will need volunteers to help with clean-up. Please be on the lookout for the flyer in this week's Thursday
Folder. Don't forget to pre-purchase your tickets for Trunk or Treat. Early purchase sales end on October 17,
2017. Also, you can continue to donate candy, just be sure to put your child's teacher's name on the candy.
PTA Board Applications:
There are still a few vacancies on this year's PTA board. If you are interested in being on the board please fill out
an application and return it by October 18, 2016. You can devote as little or as much time as your schedule permits
as an executive member of PTA. If you have questions, don't hesitate to contact us at jmarlanwalkerpta@gmail.com
Walker 2016-2017 Events:
PTA really wants to assist the students in the best way. We want your suggestions and ideas about programs or
events that you would like to see here at Walker. Don't be afraid to contact us, all ideas are welcome and will be
