Using Formulas to solve problems
Main Show Tank Calculation:
1. The main show tank has a radius of 60 feet and forms a quarter-sphere. What is
the volume of the quarter-sphere shaped tank? Round your answer to the nearest
whole number. You must explain your answer using words, and you must show all
work and calculations to receive credit.
a. Find the Volume of the sphere- 4/3*3.14*(60^3)=904,320.072
b. Divide Volume by 4 for main show tank- 904,320.072/4=226,080,018

Holding Tank Calculations:

1. The holding tanks are congruent in size, and both are in the shape of a cylinder
that has been cut in half vertically. The bottom of the tank is a curved surface.
What is the volume of both tanks if the radius of tank #1 is 30 feet and the height
of tank #2 is 110 feet? You must explain your answer using words, and you must
show all work and calculations to receive credit.

Since the tanks are congruent and were cut in half we are looking for the volume of a
single cylinder with a radius of 30 feet and a height of 110 ft because the two halves
make a whole cylinder.

-formula for cylinders volume is V=r2h,

a.3.14*30^2*110

b. 3.14*900*110

c.2,826*120

d.310,860ft
