RATIONALE

Our Lady of Fatima University Basic Education Department promotes Leadership among the
students that can help them to enhance their ability to lead and manage.

Council of Student Leaders (CSL) is a group of student Leaders who serves as vehicle for
communication between the administration and the student to ensure all the functions of the various
programs should be effective and efficient. Election requires the student to go beyond a narrow set
of academic outcomes and redefining student success to include a range of academic and non-
academic knowledge, skills and competencies that students need to acquire as leaders of the 21 st
century leaders who will address the challenges of tomorrow. OLFU-BED support and prepare the
students to be strong communicators, critical thinkers, and gritty problem-solvers who are, among
other things, inquisitive, creative, empathetic and collaborative.

The Campaign and Election for CSL positions begins and end in the month of June. The term of
appointment is ordinarily for a single academic year and a student may be reappointed for one
additional term. This month celebrates the power and potential of the student leadership. Through
campaigns, it seeks to understand more deeply the essence of student leadership.

OBJECTIVES :
This activity is conducted to:
select the representatives who will represent the student body in all matters pertaining to the
betterment of the school.
foster communication among students, administrators, staff, and the community.
promote, organize and execute activities that encourage student pride and school spirit.
install democratic ideals, provide an avenue for student expression, and a forum for aiding in
the solution of school problems.
provide an opportunity across all the students to have an input to issues and decisions which are
of concern/interest to them and which impact on the culture of OLFU.
provide an experience which acknowledges leadership existing at all year levels and extends
opportunities to develop this leadership in a supportive manner.
