Science Current Event #20

The reason why I chose this article is because the headline really caught my attention
and had really made me wonder as to how we could we convert the water that we drink
to a fuel that could possibly be dangerous to your body. Well to my surprise, were not
making the fuels that youre thinking of, such as fossil, coal, oil, but its a new type of
fuel called solar fuels. Solar fuels is a chemical fuel that is produced directly and
indirectly from solar energy, it is one of the cleanest and most reliable as well. How we
could create this fuel is with only using sunlight, water and carbon dioxide. Researchers
right now have been trying to create this fuel by using hydrogen gas and liquid
hydrocarbons, which all involve splitting water. Researchers have recently found a
problem into creating this fuel which is that the water molecules cant easily break down
the sunlight shines on them. I believe that this science could benefit humanity because
by switching to these cleaner fuels, we would be contributing to a more safer and
cleaner environment for the world by providing less pollution.
