Supreme Court of Saginaw Valley

chambers of
the chief justice

May 25, 2017

To My Fellow Justices:

I plan to resign as Chief Justice of Saginaw Valley pursuant

to Article III of the Courts Constitution. My resignation shall take

effect ten days after the release of the Opinion of the Court in Case

No. 16-006.

Its the mission of the Supreme Court of Saginaw Valley

to inspire the Association to establish an independent judiciary. I

hope that the members of the Court continue to work toward that

goal in my absence. I also hope that the importance of establishing

an independent judiciary continues to be communicated to the

Associations current bright, young leaders.

Im proud that the Courts work has thus far been

exemplary. The fact that every case the Court has heard so far has

been decided 5-0 is indicative of the maturity and cohesion we

bring to our work. Im also proud that the Court remains readily

available for potential litigants and the SVSU community, and

perhaps most importantly, that our work is transparently displayed

online in a meticulous manner as a courtesy for information-

seekers and Association members. In all things, the Court has

provided dignified conduct for the Association to emulate.

Please know that it has been an honor and a privilege to

serve with you all.

With every good wish, I am

Sincerely yours,
