East Hampton is one of the oldest villages in the
Hamptons and is known for its pristine beaches,
Elegantly Glenwood
which draw big crowds during the summer.
Designed with less of a township layout than
Southampton, East Hampton Village has been
the source of much of the Hampton’s artistic
prominence, and maintains a more relaxed and
bohemian feel than rival Southampton. Celebrity
neighbors abound, served by a Nobu outpost,
and weekenders are a rarer sight on Amagansett
beaches. Converted barns and farmhouses with
original fixtures are prominent in the area, and
waterfront homes can top $60 million. Property
here is at a premium and prices seldom dip far

Amagansett
Amagansett is one of the Hamptons’ most tranquil townships, which
may go some way to explaining the volume of celebrity residents who
call it home. The proximity of the bay and ocean in the hamlet make
for a cosiness that lacks in some of the region’s larger towns, but the
once-functional farmhouses are now beautifully finished rustic homes
occupied by those who can afford the high prices they command.
Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller summered in Amagansett coast and
little has changed on its unspoilt beaches since then. Real estate is in
high demand here, and listings are rarely lower than $3 million. Current
properties on the market include a $20 million waterfront barn complete
with a private beach and rocking chairs on each of its three porches.
