RATIONALE
Standard 4 of the ISLLC Educational Leadership Policy Standards identifies that an effective
leader builds and sustains positive and productive relationships with families, caregivers, and
community partners. My position as a family services coordinator requires me to build
relationships and be an effective communicator to all stakeholders. It is very important to keep
open lines of communication with the community doctors who also have frequent visits with the
students and families that I service. I periodically write letters to the primary care physicians to
keep them informed about the current service plan and progress as well as results of recent
hearing and vision screenings. I will write to primary care physicians to request referrals for
additional services when needed. I believe my letter to the doctor about a students hearing
results and a current service plan and progress exemplifies Standard 4 as it demonstrates my
productive relationship with community partners.
