Ahmad is caring
Learning Priority: sense of belonging and helping others with
self-care

One day, we were getting ready to have our lunch, the children
were busy washing their hands. Ahmad was the first one to wash
his hand. While waiting for the other children to wash their
hands, he realised that the chairs were stacked together and only
a few chairs were around the table. Looking around the room, he
started to count all the children that were in that room. Then he
started to unstack the chairs and arrange them around the table.
He paused for a while and count the chairs to make sure there
were enough chairs for the other children.

MasyaAllah I am so amazed with his act of kindness. Through his previous development of self-help
and self-care skills, he could gain a sense of responsibility for his own wellbeing and others. Ahmad
has become familiar with the routine at Annur childcare. Therefore, he is confident and independent
enough to help other children to feel safe and belong.

In Islam, helping others is one of the central principles, by giving positive contribution to society. Like
in this hadith:

whoever alleviate (the lot of) a needy person, Allah will alleviate (his lot) in this world and the
next, whoever shields a Muslim, Allah will shield him in this world and the next...

In this hadith, it clearly said that helping others is not optional but a religious duty. Islam is a faith that
makes helping others and society a core principle.
