Law books sale! Thanks to everyone who came down to the book
sale and bought/sold books. It was a great success! If you still have

JOIN THE LAW SOCIETY AND PICK UP YOUR MEMBERSHIP CARD


MONDAY
o Office hours have now started which means you can come and see us between
10am and 4pm every weekday. Youll be informed of who is in the office and
when, and you can get your LULS membership card & keyring by showing us
your confirmation email of membership any day!
o To join the Law Society go to www.leicesterunion.com/groups/law--2 to make
an SU account and pay! 15 for the year, 40 for lifetime.

MOOTING SHOWCASE
MONDAY
o Ken Edwards LT 2 at 6pm
o Interested in mooting and want to have an idea of how it works? Come and
watch some of our top mooters in action at the Mooting showcase! This is the
perfect opportunity for you to get yourself ready for the Speed Mooting
competition that happens the same week, so make sure you come and pick up
some tips and tricks for your own mooting benefit! The Master and Mistress of
the Moot will be discussing more about mooting and how to get involved at
the end of the Showcase. So come along if you're interested or at least curious
about mooting!

SPEED MOOTING
MONDAY o Online sign ups on Monday, 10 Oct from 9am to 10pm
o Speed Mooting sign ups are around the corner! This is the perfect opportunity
for you to have a taster at moots and receive constructive feedbacks from our
judges in preparation for the three main competitions. Online applications will
be open on Monday, 10th October 2016 from 9am to 10pm following this

COMPETITIONS SHOWCASE
TUESDAY
o TIME: 5pm
o VENUE: Ken Edwards Ground Floor Lecture Theatre 3
o The perfect opportunity to learn all about the competitions we offer
o Sign-ups for the competitions of the 1st Semester will be open after the
showcase.
o Semester one competitions: Baker & McKenzie Negotiation Competition and
Client Interviewing Competition
TUESDAY FIELDFISHER LLP GROUP SESSION
o Fieldfisher LLP is a multi-national law firm that practices in sectors such as Real
Estate, Energy, Financial Services, Government & Public Services, Life Sciences,
Media, Telecoms and Technology.
o In this session Fieldfisher will be doing a presentation about the firm and the
opportunities that they have, alongside how to be successful at group exercises
at Assessment Centres, giving you an opportunity to experience a group
exercise
o 12-1pm Careers Development Service Seminar Room

WEDNESDAY
COVENTRY CITY COUNCIL TALK
o Former University of Leicester student Sam McGinty will be coming in to give a
talk about legal job opportunities in the public sector. Sam completed his
training contract with Howes Percival and is now a Senior Lawyer at Coventry
City Council.
o This talk will give you an insight into his career path and what its like working
in the public sector.
o A great chance to find out what other routes you can take with your law
degree!

NATIONAL PUPILLAGE FAIR
o Saturday 5th November, Grays Inn, London
o Interested in becoming a barrister? Want to speak to representatives from
some of the UKs leading chambers and hear first-hand what a career at the
bar is really like? This is the perfect place to get some extremely

SPEED MOOTING FINALS
THURSDAY o 6pm (Location will be confirmed on Facebook and other social media
(Twitter/Instagram) - most likely Council Chambers)
o Come and support your Speed Mooting finalists this Thursday and watch
them battle it out in the courtroom! Judged by Mr Oliver Nunn, Mr Jamal
Jeffers and Mr James Carter (all from KCH Garden Square Chambers), the
gravity of the Moot is guaranteed to be intense!

AMSTERDAM TRIP
ALL WEEK o The joint trip to Amsterdam which will be hosted by LULS and Pro Bono, taking
place on 22nd- 24th January 2017

LEICESTER STUDENT LAW REVIEW COMMITTEE APPLICATIONS
FRIDAY
o LAW REVIEW COMMITTEE! If you want to help to organise the Review as either
a Co-Editor, one of the three Sub-Editors, a Secretary, a Financial Administrator,
Webmaster/Publishing Coordinator or Events Coordinator, then the deadline
for applications is the 11th October.

BAR CRAWL & BUYING YOUR T-SHIRT!

o On sale from Monday in Law reception from 10am to 4pm
o Every other day after that in law reception from 10am to 12pm and outside
these times they can be bought in the LULS office next to law reception
o 8 which includes a t-shirt and a discounted Shabang ticket
o The legendary Law Society Bar Crawl is on FRIDAY (14th) and starts at 7:30pm at
the Corn Exchange

BAKER & MCKENZIE DINNER
o Our sponsor and leading law firm, Baker & McKenzie, are hosting a dinner and
drinks so that you can meet their firm! Details below:
o Join Baker & McKenzie on the evening of Tuesday 8th November at San Carlo,
Leicester where we will be holding a drinks reception followed by a three-
course dinner. The dinner will provide you with an excellent opportunity to
find out more about working for a leading global law firm and talk informally to
our Partners, Associates, Trainees and Graduate Recruitment team.
