Troughout the fall season, the Montana Alzheimers
Association is sponsoring Walks to End Alzheimers
in various locations. Purpose of these walks is to raise
awareness and funds for advancements in research, support
and care for this dreaded brain disease. Of the worst dreaded
diseases, Alzheimers is the most costly as treatments and
caregiving involves many family members,professionals,
and facilities providing extended care.
Friends and family of Karen Jellum, who passed away in
October of 2013 have been very supportive of fund raising
eforts by being involved in the Walk To End Alzheimers
Disease annually in Bozeman. Her daughter, Kimberly
Garson, organized a team called Walk For Karen and
they have been the top fund raising group the past two
years. Supporters hope and pray that the ugly disease
doesnt reappear again in the family.
Te Walk is scheduled for Sept. 14th in Bozeman
once again. Supporters are very welcome to attend as are
donations to the fund raising campaign.
Donations may be sent to Alzheimers Association
Montana, 3010 11th. Ave. No., Billings Mt. 59101
specifying Walk For Karen in Bozeman or they may be
sent to Gale Jellum, Box 1000, Chinook, Mt. 59523 and he
will deliver them personally.
We would like to thank previous donors and
supporters of the walk. You are all very much appreciated.

Do you own a dog or
have ever owned a dog? If
so, will you please take the
time to fll out a survey?
Tammy Mintler is a
credentialed veterinary
technician who is working
toward a Bachelor of Applied
Science degree in Veterinary
Technology (BAS-VT) with
St. Petersburg College, FL.
In August 2012 she
began the online BAS
program and currently
is enrolled in her fnal
semester. As the capstone to
her degree requirement, she
has planned, designed, and
obtained approval for her
research project and is now
ready to begin gathering
data.
Her project is entitled,
Changing Attitudes:
Modifying the Veterinary
Atmosphere to Calm Clients
and Teir Canines.
Te survey will be
available online and a
printed version will be
included in the Wednesday,
Survey in Wednesdays Buzz: Vet clients and canines
September 10th edition
of the BS Buzz. Survey
takers can mail completed,
printed surveys or place
them in sealed drop boxes
throughout Valley County.
Tammys description
of the survey: It is
a confdential and
anonymous method of
gathering data to discover
the perceptions Valley
County dog owners have
about the emotional
attachment they have to
their dogs and how the
environment within a
veterinary practice may
afect that human-animal
bond.
To gather sufcient
data, Tammy stated she
needs at least 300 responses.
Te survey, open to all
current and former dog
owners of Valley County,
will be available starting
this week and depending
on response rate, continue
until 3 October.
Please take the time to
fll out this survey.

weekend a year.
Also, if you want to forgo the drags in Anaconda,
Montanas biggest corn feld maze starts that same
weekend in Missoula, be a quick over and back as a
route substitution for some of you. Still meet back up
in Helena. Te beauty of the Power Tour is that ALL of
these events are already going on. We just picked the
weekend with the most stuf to do. AND, because these
events are already going on, we dont have to lif a fnger,
we just show up and have fun!!!
Heres the 2014 Schedule: Join in wherever you like.
Friday Sept 19, 2014
2pm, Glasgow - leave from here 2-3pm (tentative time, but gonna be
close to that), from Ezzies West end Conoco
Great Falls - arrive, 7pm, Eat and fuel (probably around dinner time)
Suggest stopping at the Town Pump near the fair grounds (505 NW
Bypass), fuel and food stops. Take interstate to Helena.
Helena - arrive 9pm, cruise, hard park, hang out, get a hotel room. We are
suggesting near this intersection in Helena. Its near hotels, food, and is
on the road to the airport where well race later in the day Saturday. Heres
the Town Pump and intersection information. goo.gl/maps/8XJXC
Saturday,Sept 20, 2014
Helena - Organize to leave at 7:45am from Town Pump. There is good
parking and overflow parking in the Lowes parking lot. Same town Pump
listed above. 8am, Helena SCCA solo at the airport. 7-8am registration.
9am drivers meeting, should be on course by 9:45 (bring closed toe shoes,
snell2000 or newer helmet) and make sure your battery is mechanically
held well in place, no bungee cords. They figure we could each get as
many as 8 or more runs in, and if time, $1 runs later in the day. Should
be plenty of track time. Likely leave around 4-5pm. We get to do stuff like
this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Jg-ckVxOpU
4-5pm, Anaconda. Head out between 4-5pm travel to dragstrip, 95 miles
through the mountains on I15, around Butte, Here is the MAP from Helena
to the dragstrip. goo.gl/maps/9WBnW. They race under the lights and
could be there as late as 10-10:30pm. I think most of us want a single
pass, eat some track food and head back to Helena.
Anaconda - 1/8 mile drag racing (Lost Creek Raceway, 595 Galen Rd,
Anaconda, Mt 59711) Should arrive around 10am. Racing starts at 11am.

If Power Tour participants plan on making any passes at the
races, be sure to bring along a good helmet.
1-2 passes (depends on what we are all feeling) and hit the road back to
Helena. Bring good helmet, long sleeve shirt, etc. Dont expect to race in
flip-flops and football helmet. Be prepared. Arrive Back in Helena maybe
9-9:30pm so we can cruise town a bit on Saturday night.
Sunday, Sept 21, 2014
Leave Helena 9am from Town pump. Take some crazy mountain
backroad to Lincoln Montana, check out their annual Rod Run. Possible
arrival 10:30am. Chill in Lincoln for a few hours, hit the road for Great
Falls and Glasgow. Should we find ourselves in Malta early enough... its
POSSIBLE we could make a drag pass there... which would be epic. But
I feel if we leave Lincoln at perhaps noon, it would be 5pm when we hit
Malta. I checked with Maltas track manager John Carnahan. He says to
have me text him if we are close to Malta and theyll stick around just for
us to make a pass or two... within reason, say 30 minutes. So we have
that going for us.
We get home. For all those that were on the tour, FREE BARBECUE at
Bob and Lori Stormers place to celebrate an epic weekend. Bring your
own beverages. Another Epic Power Tour in the books!
