Yoakam lands on first-team

By Mike Brandt
With basketball over it’s time for the conference
honors to be handed out. The District 2B all-conference
and All-State list was released earlier this week.
It wasn’t any surprise that freshman Mayzie Yoakam
was named to the first team. She was the leading scorer
for the Glasgow Scotties.
Joining Yoakam on the team were Keesee Erickson,
12, Poplar; Neva Jacobson, 10, Malta; Cammie Martel,
10, Poplar; Macy Tjelde, 10, Fairview; anc Denvyr Tuss,
10, Malta.
Sophomore Joey Chappell landed on the second
team with Elly Anderson, 12, Malta; Emma Billmayer,
12, Harlem; Keeley Blount-Henderson, 11, Wolf Point;
Carly Buxbaum, 11, Faireview; and Mattie Falls Down,
11, Poplar. Jacobson, Tjelde, and Tuss were named to
the All-State team.
None of the Glasgow boys were named to the first
team all-conference list. The list had Bohdi Brenden,
11, Malta; Delray Lilley, 12, Poplar; Kaniel Ricker, 11,
Poplar; Landon Thompson, 12, Fairview; Jeff Tjelde, 12,
Fairview; and Treyton Wilke, 11, Malta.
The Scotties did have junior Wyatt Babb, who
was All-state last year, and freshman Cade Hudyma
make the second team. They were joined by Dawson
Hammond, 10, Malta; Tyler Loan, 11, Fairview; Cody
McCabe, 10, Harlem; and Geordy Medicine Cloud, 12,
Poplar. Named to the All-State team were Brenden,
Lilley, Thompson, and Tjelde.
