Scotties have youthful look

Just like the fall sports programs that recently finished
up, the winter programs will be young. Both the basketball
teams have only one senior and the wrestling program has
three, two boys and a girl.
Kyndal Schraner is the lone senior for Cami Graham’s
Scotties. But Graham’s team has some experience at the
varsity level that saw plenty of action in the 2022-23
season. Junior Tanae Baker, sophomore Joely Chappell, and
freshman Mayzie Yoakam along with Schraner all saw some
varsity action. Yoakam played quality varsity minutes as an
eighth grader.
The Scotties will have some height with Hayden Green,
a 6-foot-1 junior and Paityn Britzman, a 5-foot-10 freshman.
Also playing varsity are juniors Riley Evenson-Glasoe and
Macy Martin, and freshman Gina Page. There are seven
freshmen, four sophomores, four juniors and a senior.
Jami Hughes and Corie Love are back to assist Graham.
For the varsity boys, Coach Paul Yoakam has Toryn
Richards as the lone senior. The boys also return experience
with junior 6-foot-4 junior Wyatt Babb, 6-foot-3 Myles
Yoakam, and 6-foot-6 freshman Cade Hudyma. Hudyma
played quality minutes as an eighth grader. Richards and

Juniors Connor Hudyna and Rex Monson and
sophomore Andy Hanson fill out the varsity roster.
This is the tallest line-up the Scotties have seen for
years. The “shortis” of the varsity roster is by no means short
as Solorzano and Richards are 5-feet-10.
Mike Zoanni and Lukas Johnson are assisting Yoakam.
Jory Casterline starts his 10th year as the head wrestling
coach and has two senior boys, Joaquin Torres and James
Linder and senior Shalynn Pederse.
Both the boys and girls squads have experience with
some of them wrestling as eighth-graders. Madison Lamb,
Cody Kuka, Makiya Plummer, and Cash Richardson were
eighth-graders last year this past season.
Avery Pedersen, Blake Ozark, and Riley Clampitt, all
sophomores, return for the girls team.
Sophomore Khye Gamas and William Kirkland had
a good freshman season. Juniors Michael King and Gabe
Munroe are back. The Scotties have four eighth-graders
also, Tyler King, John Yeska, Alex Earll, and Ernie Vandall.
Cody King, Travis Lamb, and Dylan Nieskens are
assisting Casterline.
