Tribute to
Melford Arrotta
February 18, 1926 – December 28, 2023

I worked with Melford at

Tampico for a couple of years in the
mid-60s. To me, he was not merely
a man. He epitomized Jesus Christ
in the flesh. My name is Paul Scott,
and this is who Melford was for me.
My thoughts on Melford are best
expressed in Matthew 25:36:
I needed clothes, and you clothed
me; I was sick, and you looked after
me; I was in prison, and you came to
visit me.
That is exactly what happened
– my mother died on a family
camping trip in the summer of 1962,
and our home life was in shambles. In the mid 1960s, while Melford Arrotta was the foreman on the Etchart

I was sent a very interesting and noteworthy email
yesterday from a friend in the know that hit the nail on the
head…
It was pointed out that back in 1787, Alexander Tyler
who was a Scottish history professor at the University of
Edinburgh, had this to say of our original thirteen states
after adopting the new constitution: ‘A democracy is always
temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent
form of government.’
‘A democracy will continue to exist up until the time
that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts
from the public treasury.’ ‘From that moment on, the majority
always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits
from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy
will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always
followed by a dictatorship.’
It is said that no great civilization shall exist after about
200 years. We are at the 247th year for our great nation and
just my opinion (but many are saying the same thing) that we
are watching our country go down hill so fast that it makes
our heads spin!
Unless you have lived under a rock these past 3 years,
you should be feeling how close we are to losing our country.
“Since 2021, the Biden administration has opened the
floodgates on the southern border, turned a blind eye and the
tally is in, a whopping 11 million illegal’s have crossed into our
country, but last month, December saw over 80,000 illegal’s
from Africa, Middle East, Latin America come over the border
in swarms at Lukeville Port of Entry leaving behind massive
amounts of garbage.”
And the majority of these illegal’s, they like to point
out, were military aged single men that have an open border
invitation to come on in with this current administration!

So what is that supposed to mean? Will they be directed
to a secret cache of terrorist-linked weapons and use them on
Americans on our own soil?
Statesman Patrick Henry once said “Forbid it Almighty
God” and you should know the rest.”
And the real slap in the face to us all is, there are video’s
and still photo’s of these illegal’s mocking us and giving us the
finger as they crawl through the border wall openings. This
shows you how confident and spit-in-your-face arrogant
they are that nothing will happen to them and they have cart
blanch coming into our nation. And it certainly appears that
they are correct!
Now Frank and I have said time and again these past
three years that there is only a couple of reason’s to keep the
floodgates open…
1. For voting purposes
2. To possibly take over our country

Former President Donald Trump just made a prediction
and most of his predictions seem to come true. He just stated
that “the Democrats have been signing up illegals to vote at a
rapid pace, not even knowing who the hell they are!”
Millions of totally unvetted migrants into our once
great Country, this all is by design to VOTE IN THE 2024
ELECTION to keep the Dems in power.
There truly can not be any other way to stay in power, in
my opinion, except to be deceptive to the American people
to cancel out legal citizens’ votes. These people are bringing
with them, diseases that we haven’t had in our country for
many, many years and bringing in children that are not even
theirs. Not to mention the crime rate that has climbed in
especially blue states.
Biden just announced over New Year’s that we are very
close to WWIII! And sadly, we just might be going into a
Great Depression if things continue the way they are now.
This was another prediction of President Trump’s.
Now I realize that some out there are rolling their eyes
at this, keep rolling! You are in for a very big surprise coming
down the pike! I only hope that I am wrong!
Things have to change soon or we will not have a free
country anymore.
If this is what some of you want, then you might strongly
consider going to someplace else to live!
While at the processing tents in Lukeville, TGP’s Jordan
Conradson spoke to some of the illegals and filmed many
inside lying on the floor after traveling from different
countries, including Mexico, Mali, Guinea, and India. Some
appeared to be from Middle Eastern countries based on their
attire and head dressing.
When asked for their thoughts on Joe Biden, one said
he is the “best President.”
And so it goes.

Scotties earn a split

During the long break between Christmas and New
Year coaches like to tweak their offense and defense.
“We’re working on getting more quality possessions per
game,” Coach Paul Yoakam said. “We want high percentage
shots and be more efficient offensively and defensively.
We’re working on our zone rotation quite a bit. We’ve been
spending a lot of time on those things and it’s going pretty
well so far.”
Yoakam said the Scotties have some teams coming up
that have strong guard play. One of those teams is Malta,
which the Scotties will meet Saturday night in Malta. Glasgow
hosts Glendive this Friday night.
“It will be a good game to start with, We already played
them once,” said Yoakam. “We had a little trouble with their
halfcourt trap. I don’t see that happening again. We have a
little more experience.”
The Scotties opened the season in Glendive with only
four varsity players that had experience.
“Malta is guard-oriented and we’re tall and quick and
tough,” Yoakam said. “It will be a really interesting game.”
The Scotties closed out their 2023 portion of their
schedule with a nice District 2B win over Wolf Point and a
non-conference loss to Rocky Boy.
“They (Wolf Point) came out and jumped on us right
away,” said Yoakam. “But I knew we would come through
and run the offense. I knew they would have a tough time
stopping us from scoring. We jumped on them pretty big
before the half. Then they came out and made a run at us.
We were able to pull it back together and finish out the game
with a win.”
The Wolves did jump on the Scotties, taking an 11-5
lead Thursday night. But Myles Yoakam jump started the
Glasgow offense with a pair of free throws and followed
those with a long-range bomb. Wyatt Babb closed out the
first quarter with two buckets. Glasgow was on a 13-5 run for
an 18-14 lead.
The Scotties continued to add to their run, scoring
the first eight points of the second period for a 26-14 lead.
Glasgow’s 21-4 run was stopped by Peyton Summers’ bucket.
The Scotties held a 35-20 edge at the break. Cade Hudyma
led the Scotties with 16 points, Yoakam had 11, and Babb
eight.
Glasgow led by 18 in the third, but the Wolves made a
run to close out the period, trailing 54-42.
Rebel Maus drilled a three-pointer, cutting the Scotties lead
to 54-49 early in the fourth. Hudyma went 3 for 4 from the
foul line for a 57-49 cushion with 5:43 to play. The Scotties
prevailed 62-54.
Hudyma finished the game with a double-double
game-high 29 points on 12 of 19 shots and 16 rebounds.
Babb followed with 16 points and 14 rebounds, Yoakam had
13 points, Toryn Richards and Nick Solorzano two each.
Cade Stafne buried four 3-pointers to lead the Wolves with 16
points.
It was raining threes in the Rocky Boy gym Friday night.
The Northern Stars drained 14 bombs in a 75-70 victory.
“I believe they were 14 for 30,” said Yoakam. “It was a fun game
to play. It was a really good sign that we were able to take that
offensive night from them and still manage to give ourselves a
chance to win at the end. It didn’t happen for us, but overall it
was a fun game and good experience and I’m looking forward
to playing them at home.”
Glasgow did take a 6-4 lead but the Stars started draining
the three ball with four in the first quarter fore a 20-15 lead.
The Scotties rallied in the second to take a 28-27 lead on
Hudyma’s three-point play. Glasgow led 36-34 at the break.
Rocky Boy held the lead up to the final seconds of the
third when Yoakam drilled a three-pointer for a 54-53 lead.
Teague Stump drained a three midway through the
fourth for a 65-59 advantage. Glasgow regained the lead when
Yoakam and Solorzano drilled back-to-back threes with 4:04
to play. Dion Lodgepole scored for a 68-67 Stars lead. Aeron
Gopher buried a three for a 71-67 lead. Phoenix Henry iced
the win with two free throws.
Stump led the way for the Stars with 33 points.
Babb led the Scotties with 21 points and eight rebounds.
Hudyma added 13 points and eight rebounds, Yoakam nine
points on a trio of treys, Solorzano eight, Richards and Connor
Hudyma seven each. Richards also had seven boards.

John was a loyal choir member, but he could not
carry a tune. To make things worse, he sang loud and
made others sing off key.
Without success, the choir director had tried to
discourage John from participating in the choir. The
choir director asked the pastor’s help in getting John out
of the choir. The pastor agreed to try. The pastor tried to
find tasks and responsibilities that would interfere with
John’s attendance at choir rehearsal or keep him out of
the choir loft on Sunday morning.
John, however, would not accept any of the tasks
or responsibilities, stating that he would not shirk his
duties as a loyal choir member.
Finally, the choir director gave the pastor an
ultimatum, “Either you find a way to get John out of the
choir or I will resign as choir director.”
So, with much uneasiness, the pastor called upon
John at home one evening and said, “John, I must ask
you to drop out of the choir.”
John was shocked and asked, “Why would you ask
such a thing? We need all the singers we can get.”
The pastor replied, “Well, John, people are
complaining about your singing.”
“How many?” was John’s response.

What is the SAIL program?

SAIL (Stay Active & Independent for Life) is a 12-week falls prevention fitness program that focuses on
strength, balance, and mobility – which reduces the risk of falls and improves overall quality of life.

Schedule & Location: FREE SAIL Fitness Classes Include:

• Every Tuesday and Thursday from 10am - 11am
