The Back to Basics Fad

In these modern times of technology, people are losing basic skills. Monica, for example,

wakes up in the morning to a brewed cup of coffee and then rushes to McDonalds drive-thru to

get an Egg McMuffin. As she zips along the highway to her work cubicle, she doesnt notice the

fields disappearing into high-rise apartments. What will she do to survive the zombie

apocalypse? The next high-demand job will be teaching anew skills such as gardening, cooking,

sewing, and kung fu fighting.

Our ancestors taught us well how to survive off the land. Currently, there are seeds for

sale at Walmart to start a garden, however, it would be beneficial to know how to plant, harvest,

and gather seeds for the following year. Also, one should know which plants yield the most

produce with nutritional value, the best location for planting, and the amount of water and

sunlight required for healthy plants.
