3 Coordinates & Design Review

Objectives:

Identify and plot points in the four quadrants of a Cartesian plane, using integral
ordered pairs.
Perform and describe transformations (translations, rotations or reflections) of a 2-D
shape in all four quadrants of a Cartesian plane (limited to integral number vertices)

Instructions/Procedures:

2 min - Attendance

1 min - Intro
Today we will be reviewing and practicing Transformations for the quiz this
afternoon and the Unit Exam later this week

2 min - Review the X and Y axis and Ordered Pairs

X axis is the Horizontal
Y axis is the Vertical
Ordered pairs/coordinates i.e. (x,y) - x comes first, y comes second

5 min - Go over Show You know from Pg. 23 of textbook

270 counter clockwise = 90 clockwise
270 = turn, 90 = turn

10 min - Complete remainder of the Chapter Review on Pg. 36-37 in the textbook
Go over questions on board as/if needed

10 min - Chapter 1 Test in Booklet

Once students are finished the Chapter Review in the textbook they can do the
Chapter 1 practice test in their booklets
5 min - Key Words Puzzle
If students complete everything they can work on the Key Words Puzzle in their
booklets

2 min - This afternoon we will be doing quiz #2 on Coordinates and Design which covers
everything we reviewed today
