DAILY LESSON LOG OF STEM_PC11AG-Ia-2,3,4 ( Week One- Day Three)

School Grade Level 11

Teacher Learning Area Mathematics

Teaching Date and Time Quarter 1st

Objectives must be met over the week and connected to the curriculum standards. To meet the objectives,
necessary procedures must be followed and if needed, additional lessons, exercises and remedial activities
may be done for developing content knowledge and competencies. These are assessed using Formative
I. OBJECTIVES Assessment Strategies. Valuing objectives support the learning of content and competencies and enable
children to find significance and joy in learning the lessons. Weekly objectives shall be derived from the
curriculum guides.
A.Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of conic sections and
systems of nonlinear equations
B.Performance Standards The learner shall be able to model situations appropriately and solve problems
accurately using conic sections and systems of nonlinear equations.
Learning Competency:
Defines a circle. STEM_PC11AG-Ia-2
Determines the standard form of equation of a circle. STEM_PC11AG-Ia-3
C.Learning Competencies/ Graphs a circle in a rectangular coordinate system STEM_PC11AG-Ia-4
Objectives Learning Objectives:
1. Convert standard form to general form of equation of circle and vice versa
2. Solve problems involving circle
3. Demonstrate appreciation to the concept about circles
II. CONTENT Circles

These steps should be done across the week. Spread out the activities appropriately so that pupils/students
will learn well. Always be guided by demonstration of learning by the pupils/ students which you can infer
from formative assessment activities. Sustain learning systematically by providing pupils/students with
IV.PROCEDURES multiple ways to learn new things, practice the learning, question their learning processes, and draw
conclusions about what they learned in relation to their life experiences and previous knowledge. Indicate
the time allotment for each step.
ACTIVITY 1
In this activity, the teacher will call students to give their answers orally.
A.Review previous lesson Direction: Given the standard equation of the circle , identify the center and radius of
or presenting the new the circle
lesson 1. (x-2)2+(y+1)2=9 2. (x+3)2+y2=9 3. (x+2)2+(y-1)2=3
(3 minutes) Answer Key:
1. Center (2,-1) , radius is 3 3. Center (-2,1), radius is √ 3
2. Center (-3,0), radius is 3
B.Establishing a purpose The teacher presents the objectives of the lesson to the class and let the students
for the lesson recognize the importance of the concept of circles
(2 minutes)
C.Presenting examples/ ACTIVITY 2
instances of the new In this activity, the students will work in pairs.
lesson Direction: To determine the equation of the circle given the graph, locate the center
(5 minutes) first and determine the distance from the center to any point on the circle to
determine the radius. Do the task below. The teacher goes around the room to
provide needed support.
Given the graphs of the circles, give the standard equation of the circle.
Answer Key:
1.(x-2)2+(y-3)2=9 2.(x+2)2+(y+1)2=4 3.x2+(y-1)2=9
D.Discussing new concepts The teacher talks about the concept about general form of the equation of the circle.
and practicing new skills The teacher will relate the Activity a1 and 2 to the topic about circles. In addition,
#1 he/she presents some sample problems involving circles with solutions
(15 minutes)
E.Discussing new concepts
and practicing new skills
#2
ACTIVITY 3
In this activity, the students will work with the same partner.
Direction: The standard equation of the circle describes the center and radius of the
circle, do the task below. The teacher goes around providing needed support.
F.Developing mastery
1. Given the standard equation of the circle transform them to general form.
(leads to formative
a. (x-2)2 + (y+3)2=16 b. (x+5)2+ y2 = 9
assessment 3)
2. Given the general equation of the circle transform them to standard form.
(10 minutes)
a. x2+y2-2x+8y+4=0 b. x2+y2-6x-2y-5=0
Answer Key:
1. a. x2+y2-4x+6y-3=0 b. x2+y2+10x+16=0

2. a. (x-1) + (y+4) =13 b. (x-3)2 + (y-1)2=15
ACTIVITY 4
In this activity, the students will work with the same partner.
G.Finding practical
Direction: Do the task below. The teacher goes around providing needed support.
applications of concepts
1. A street with two lanes, each of 10 ft. wide, goes through a semi-circular tunnel
and skills in daily living
with radius 12ft. How high is the tunnel at the edge of each lane? Round off to 2
