Subject: Geography
Topic: The Bermuda Triangle

Bermuda Triangle: a big mystery or just a piece of ocean?

This mysterious triangle is found in the Atlantic ocean. If you draw a line from Miami to the island
of Bermuda, from Bermuda to San Juan (Puerto Rico) and from San Juan back to Miami, then you
can see a imaginary triangle in which all kinds of mysteries took place as reported.
For example:
the disappearance of The USS Cyclops departed in February 1918 from Rio de Janeiro to
Barbados and Flight 19 departed in December 1945 from Florida.

What exactly happened with the USS Cyclops and Flight 19 remains a mystery.
"The ocean has always been a mysterious place for our people especially for scientists. Bad weather
and poor navigation on the ocean can be very lethal," says the National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration. There is no evidence that take place in the Bermuda Triangle with greater
frequency than in other heavily trafficked places mysterious disappearances. "So there is no
mystery.

How I currently teach (Traditional)

The students have all their stuff on the table (book, pen, pencil etc.) and a world map hangs on
the blackboard.
I announce the lesson. Today's lesson is going about the Bermuda Triangle.
In the traditional way of teaching the teachers are center and the students listen attentively.

I ask the students if they have already heard of the Bermuda Triangle or have read about it.
After all responses and reactions I will respond by using the world map and talk about this
triangle.
I know that there is no room for creativity in the classroom if we keep on teaching this way.
(thinking about the 21st century skills).

How will I include STREAM to enhance my lesson?

I will start the lesson with a simple game (question).

If you look at the pictures, can you identify the title of today's topic? After all responses and
reactions they are going to watch 2 short videos by using a beamer and a computer.
At home Ive already downloaded some videos about the lesson because we dont have
internet at school.

Video 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxMOGldwtZc

Video 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yaj6Pk7VYHA

After they have watched the videos, we'll talk about the videos. I will start with the question:
had one of you earlier heard or read about the Bermuda Triangle?

For Science they must create a tornado by using 2 plastic bottles, sticky tape, a knife, glitter
(optional), food color (optional) and water. (group assignment)
To use Technology one of the group member must connect his/her smart phone to the computer so
that they can use the hotspot. They can search on YouTube to find videos which they can compare
with their own tornado.

Each student will get a stencil with information about the Bermuda Triangle.
The must Read the stencil, and Write down what they think about the disappearance of the
ship and the airplane. (individual assignment).
(If you were one of the pilots, crew member or passenger how would you react in such a
situation?).

For the Engineering they must build an airplane with the materials on their table.
(individual assignment)

Art: in groups they are going to make a Plastic Straw Pendant Light With Triangles.
The materials that they are going to need are: plastic straw, scissors and linen tread.
Math: This is a group Assignment.

Each group gets an A4 with an image of a large triangle divided into smaller triangle inside.
(fig. 1) I give them sate sticks (kebab sticks), sticky tape, linen thread and a scissor. They
have to built the same triangle. When they are finished I will ask the following question:
How many triangles can you find in the triangle youve made? (fig. 2)
