SUMMARY
Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) is a group of polyunsaturated fatty acids found in beef, lamb, and
dairy products, existing as positional and stereo-isomers of octadecadienoate (18:2). Over the past two
decades numerous health benefits have been attributed to CLA in experimental animal models including
actions to reduce carcinogenesis, atherosclerosis, onset of diabetes and body fat mass ... CLA content in
the dairy products is affected by cow variety, cow individual, cow age, especilly by feed. Lots of research
have been done in order to increase the CLA content in cow milk. Comparing the two diets for cows var.
Pie Noir Holstein, one is the maize ensilage (structural value:1,28/kg dry matter) and the other is the
maize ensilage + 1,7 kg straw (structural value: 1,54/kg dry matter), we found that the low fibre-
containing portion resulted in the increase of the content of rumenic acid (CLA) and vaccenic acid in
milk.
