LESSON PLAN YEAR 3 (Day One Listening & Speaking)

Class: Year 3 Mawar

Topic: Food

Learning Standards: 1.1.4 Able to talk about a stimulus with guidance.

1.3.1 Able to listen to and demonstrate understanding of oral texts by:


(a) answering simple Wh-Questions

Objectives: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:

(i) Talk about or discuss the picture with guidance.


(ii) Answer simple Wh-questions orally.
(iii) Sing a song with correct pronunciation and rhythm.
(iv) Give at least two examples of healthy food and junk food.

Teaching aids: video clip on food, pictures and song chart

Steps:

Set Induction

1. Q&A about foods.


e.g.: What is your favourite food?

Pre-Listening

2. Show some pictures of food.


3. Guide pupils to talk about the pictures. Ask questions:
e.g. What can you see in the picture?
Can you name the food in the picture?

While-listening
1. Teacher distributes the worksheet to the pupils.
2. Pupils listen to the song carefully and fill in the blanks.
3. Teacher checks the answers together with the pupils.
4. Teacher shows the lyrics and gets pupils to sing the song twice.
5. Teacher asks pupils questions based on the song.
E.g. What are the names of the food in the song?
Which food is good for your health?
Which food is bad for your health?
Which food do you like?

Post-listening

7. In groups, pupils fill in the blanks with two healthy food and two junk food that they know.

8. Pupils present their song to the class.
