DISCUSSION

Teacher tells students the definition of completing the square

Teacher give some example of the mathematical problem that turns into
a quadratic function
Teacher explain to get the value of a b and c that turns into quadratic
function
Teacher give example on how to use algebra tiles for non-factorial
problem
Teacher explain how to use algebra tiles for completing the square.

APPLICATION

Student will answer the following examples

Write f(x)= (x+8)2 24 in quadratic form
Find the value of a b and c
Complete the square using algebra tiles of x2+8x+3=0 for the non-
factorial

GENERALIZATION

What have learned from this topic?

Did algebra tiles helped to get the non-factorial equation for
completing the square?

IV. EVALUATION

Solve the following problems, apply the algebra tiles and identify if this is
factorial or non-factorial.

1. x2+8x+3=0
2. x2-6x+9=0
3. x2+5x+3=0
4. x2+6x+18=0
5. x2+2x-17=0
