III. Procedures
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
A. Daily Routine:
a) Prayer
Let’s pray before we *Student did the prayer*
start. (Teacher will pray
“Our Father”)
b) Greeting
Good day class. Before Good afternoon, Sir Estareja.
you take your seats, The student will stand up.
please pick up any trash
you see in the classroom
and put it in the trash
bins. Thank you. You Thank you, Sir.
may now take your
seats.
c) Attendance
Before we begin, let me Yes, Sir.
take attendance. If your
name is called, please
say 'present.

B. Priming Activity:
Class, today we will be learning about
another way of solving quadratic equation. Yes, sir.
In our previous topic we learn about solving
quadratic equations by extracting square
roots. Can you all still remember that?

Before we start our new topic, let's engage Yes, Sir (Start the count-off)
in a group activity. I would like everyone to
please count off from 1 to 3.

Thank you so much

All number 1 your team’s name is “Red

Factor”
All number 2 your team’s name is “Green
Roots”
All number 3 your team’s name is “Blue
Quadmula”
Yes, sir
Now that were done the grouping. Let’s
proceeds to our group activity. Are you
already?

C. Development of The Lesson

a) Activity

For our activity we will be playing a

game called “Jumbled Letters”.
Raise your hand in your group and Yes, Sir
you will be acknowledged. Are we
clear class?

In every time you will get the correct

answer you will be given a star and Yes, Sir!
the group that have the highest
stars will be the winner and will get
a prize from me. Are clear class?

Aright let’s start, try to unscramble Sir the is answer:

them and find the correct answers: “Factoring”
“Quadratic”

2. QUADCIRAT “Solving”
3. INOSULTO “Equation”
4. VIGONSL “MATHEMATICS”
5. QAEINTUO
6. SMAACITHEM

b) Analysis Sir, its “Solving Quadratic Equations by

Factoring”
Now based on the activity that I
showed, what do you think our
lesson for today?
*Reading the Objectives of the study
Yes, that’s correct our lesson
today is “Solving Quadratic
Equations by Factoring”

Our learning objectives is

At the end of the discussion
students will be able to:
• Define a zero-product property
• Innumerate the steps in
factoring quadratic equation
• Solve quadratic equation by
factoring

Now that we know our learning

objectives, let’s start with the
first objective which is to
“Define a zero-product property” *Shares own definition of Zero-product
Property
Does anyone here know what
the zero-product property is?

Ok, that’s correct. *Reads the slide

Show the slide: Zero-product

Property – If two numbers A
and B are multiplied together
and the resulting product is 0,
then at least one of the
numbers must be “0”. If AB=0,
then either A = 0 or B = 0 or
both A=0 and B=0. Yes, Sir

Do you understand the concept

of the Zero-product property?

Then, we proceed to the steps

of solving quadratic equation by
factoring.

Steps:
1. Transform the quadratic *Reads the steps of solving Quadratic
equation into standard form Equation by Factoring.
ax^2+bx+c=0 if necessary.

2. Factor the quadratic

expression.

3 Apply the zero-product

property by setting each factor
of each quadratic equation
equal to zero.
None, Sir.
4. Solve each resulting
equation.

5. Check the values of the

variables obtain by substituting
each in the original equation.

Does anyone have any

question about these steps and
the zero-product property? Sir, the first step is to transform the
equation into the standard from.
Let proceeds to our examples.

Examples:
1) x 2+ 9 x=−8 Sir, the second step is to factor the
quadratic expression
Solution:

What is our first step? Sir, the third step is applying the zero-

x + 9 x+ 8=0

What’s the second step?

Ok that’s correct Sir, the fourth step is to solve each resulting
equation.
( x +1 )( x +8 ) =0

What’s the third step?

Sir, the final step is the checking of the

Now, what is the final step?
Ok that’s correct.

Checking:

2)6 x 2+ 36 x=0
Before we answer this example,
what do you notice in our
expression? Yes Sir, the step 3 is to equate both of the
expression in equal to “0”.
Ok, that’s correct.

What do you think is the factor

of 4 x2 −8 x+3=0 ?

Ok, that’s correct.

The factor (𝑥−2)(𝑥−6)=0

Now, let’s go to our step 3. Do
you still remember the step 3?

That’s correct.

c) Abstraction
In solving quadratic equation is
based on zero-product property of
real numbers.

Now, who could tell me again what

have an equation where the product of two

then at least one of those numbers or
expressions must be zero. This helps us
solve equations by breaking them down

factoring?
Next, try to factor the quadratic expression
on the left side of the equation. Look for
common factors or use factoring techniques
like difference of squares, grouping, or trial
and error.

After factoring, apply the zero-product

property. This means setting each factor of
the quadratic equation equal to zero. Write
separate equations for each factor equal to
zero.

Solve each resulting equation for the

variable. This means finding the values that
make each equation true.
