ECO Overview
ECO = Engineering Change Order
ECOs are required to do the following in ENOVIA:
Create Drawings, Parts, Technical Specs
Revise Drawings, Parts, Technical specs
Obsolete Parts
Clone Parts, Drawings
Multiple ECOs are often attached under a parent ECR to capture full scope of engineering changes
Types of ENOVIA ECOs:
Type Description
ReqBOM (BO1) Used for REQ Project Specific BOM changes.
NPI (EC) Used for Standard design change to drawing and BOM.
Used for Services, Packaging, BOP parts creation.
Used for REQ Project Specific drawings (Must select ECONPI
Approval List Route).
ECO-ONE (VPENG) Used for CM&U drawing changes.

ENOVIA ECO Routes (Approval List)
Route Description
ECONPIReview Select for true NPI parts and drawings.
Select for Services, Packaging, BOP, REQ Project Specific
parts/drawing creation.
DO NOT select if rolling/revising/obsoleting parts or drawings.
ECOCCBReview-No Select for all other changes related to standard design change
obsoleted parts that require CCB review approval (i.e. rolling/revising parts or
drawings).
DO NOT select if obsoleting parts.
ECOCCBReview- Select for all other changes related to standard design change
With obsoleted that require CCB review approval (i.e. rolling/revising/obsoleting
parts parts or drawings).

Quick Tips
ECO Type and Name cannot be changed once the ECO is created.
BOM Markups are applied in ECO.
If an ECO task is REJECTED the route will end and a new route will
have to be created.
All parts and drawings must have an ECO.
ECO can be connected in: Part create screen or Drawing Create
screen.
For an ECO, the ECO owner, the Responsible Design Engineer and
other Assignees can add affected items.
When adding to an existing ECR/ECO, the search results return only

those ECRs/ECOs that have not yet reached the Review state.
For a new ECO, creator must have create ECO rights and have Design
Engineer role in the part's responsible design organization.

Select a reason for change from the drop down menu. Should be consistent with ECO
Reason Code (Oracle) Category of Change and ECR Category of Change (if ECR required). See TR0377 for
directions.
Becomes a required field when REQ type is selected. This should be the Oracle project
Project Number (Oracle) number (ex: 7221284) . Is not mandatory on EC but is free text and can add Charge
number.
ERP ECO Export Default to ECO Force and should be left alone.

(1) Create ECO from ECR Affected Items
1. Select Categories > Affected Items.

2. Select Assign to ECO and create new or add to existing.
ECR should be in Plan ECO.

Affected Items in ECR can be added to multiple ECOs.
When adding Existing: ECO cannot be connected to the ECR if parts have already been added to the ECO
manually.
Revision of drawing/parts will get created once ECO is promoted to Define Components.

summary and goes to Oracle.

(7) Create ECO from ECR Adding Affected Items
After the ECO is created, additional items can be added:
Cloned parts , new parts and new drawings need to be created outside ECO before they can be added as
affected items.

Parts that need to be obsoleted should also be included in the ECO as affected items.

(8) Create ECO from ECR - Connect Affected Items

2. Select Actions > Add Existing.
3. Enter search criteria

Promote ECO when all items are connected.
Use wildcard * to find affected items to add.

(9) Create ECO from ECR - Creating revisions
1. Once affected items are added, Select

Lifecycle under ECO.
2. Promote ECO to Define Components .
3. Click Affected Items in ECO.

(10) Create ECO from ECR Promoting ECO
Once all work is completed (Drawings in Approved State, Parts in Review State), the ECO can be promoted
to Review.
When ECO has moved to Review state, Route is automatically started.
Route task has to be completed.
Last route task approval (BOM Team) will automatically trigger release to Oracle.
For ECOCCB Review route,

the following groups
require sign off on ECO in
Review state. Tasks will
appear in their queue to

In the Change Mgt Powerview there are options to:

Create an ECO from existing Part or Drawing.
Attach Affected items to existing ECO.

1. Select Categories > Change Mgt
