Rectangular Break Line

1. Purpose and description

Rectangular Break Line adds a rectangular break line to a drawing when two points
are picked in the drawing.

3. Installation
To install the application:
1. Close down Tekla Structures (if running)
2. Download MSI Installer from Tekla extranet
3. Install and run MSI Installer
4. Start up Tekla Structures
5. Open an existing drawing

6. Drag and dock the new toolbar

4. Usage
To use the plugins:
1. Open toolbar
2. Set up settings in the tool to match current engineering drawing standards.
a. Select type of break line. Two options are available in the picture pull down.
Dimensions are of full scale dimensions in inches.

 b. Polyline settings Open the Draw Polyline settings to set the desired line
color and type and save the attribute file away. Then launch the break line tool
and the attribute setting will show up in the tool.
c. Polygon settings This setting is critical for masking over linework around the
zig8zag break. The hatching_white attribute file is used by default. For section
and detail objects with gray special color hatching, use the special_hatch. To
create your own polygon settings, load the Draw Polygon properties and set
the desired line and hatching color and save the attribute file away.

Create break line

1. Open toolbar.
2. Set settings. Apply.
3. Pick point one and two.

Modify break line

1. Select one of two points and move/drag to new location.

Delete marks
1. Select object and right click delete.

6. Limitations
1. Break line objects will move with the view if moved. However, if the view extrema
changes the break line will not automatically adjust to the new edge of the view
extrema. The user will have to move the break lines manually.
2. Object hatching colors or textures are not covered up with this tool.
