SOLAR-POWERED BOAT RACE, YEAR 1

CONTEST MECHANICS

1. This event is open to all secondary public high schools in Valenzuela.

2. There will be a registration fee of Php 150.00 to cover the expenses such as
entrance to a pool resort and other things. The teams may agree to a
standard use of two (2) pieces of solar panels, costing Php 400.00/ piece.
Total expenses is Php 950.00.

3. Each school can only send one (1) team composed of three (3) student-
members accompanied by a coach.

4. Each can make two (2) boat-entry satisfying the following limitations:

a. The solar panel is limited only to a surface area of 300 cm2 whether it
is an accumulation or a single piece panel.
b. The team must install a switch for the motor.
c. The team can place any motor; there is no limit to its number.
d. The boat is limited only to l=60 cm x w=60 cm x h=60 cm dimensions.
e. Any materials can be used for the construction except the readily-
made available toy boats.
f. All entries will be inspected and quarantined on the day of the
contest proper.

5. The mode of competition is double eliminations. The team can decide


whether they will be using just one of their boats or use them both for
matches.

6. All other guidelines will be explained on the day of the contest proper such
as the length of water track, trials before matchers, etc.

7. There will be a committee composed of selected head teachers who will


oversee the said contest.
