Lesson idea implementation: The students will sit at their tables and I will ask them the question of
Who is Jimmy Carter? I will make a chart on the board that has a Before and After column. I
will ask for volunteers to take a guess at who he is and why he is important. I will write their answers
on the board in the before column. I will then teach about Jimmy Carter and why he is important
and plays a role in human rights. After the students have a grasp on him, I will have them write a
couple of points they learned about Jimmy on the board in the After column.

Once we are done with that activity, I will put the students into groups. Once they are in groups they
will get on the Timeline website. From there they will form a timeline based on important events
that happened in Jimmy Carters life. Once everyone is finished with their timeline, I will ask for
volunteers to present or share their timeline with the class. We will discuss the timelines and how
many events played into who Jimmy Carter was.
