MATERIAL
The material as indicated on the purchase order is in conformance with the following specifications:
Country of origin shall be from North America, Western Europe (EU) or Japan.
4. PROCESS REQUIREMENTS
Heat treatment:
Plate condition: Normalize at 1900F minimum and temper at 1350F minimum in accordance with
UCS 56 requirements for PWHT.
Forgings condition: Normalizing & Temper to obtain a minimum temper of 1350F in accordance with
UCS 56 requirements for PWHT.
Tensile testing shall meet the requirements of the material standard specified, e.g.: ASME SA-387 for
plate and SA-182 for forgings.
Brinell hardness test per ASME SA-370. The maximum hardness value shall be 241 HB max per API
582 para 12.6.2.5 c) for 9 Cr. material.
Plate is subject to ultrasonic testing (UT) with 100% scan per ASTM A 578 Level C and ASME Sec.
VIII, Div 2 AM-203.2.
Forging is subject to ultrasonic testing (UT) with 100% scan per ASTM A 388.
The composition of forgings and plates, based on the heat analysis, shall be reported in accordance
with the following equation:
4
J-Factor 150, where J= (%Mn + %Si) x (%Sn + %P) x 10
7. IDENTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Forging: Identify and mark per ASTM A 182 (Section 17.1) and ASTM A 961 (Section 20). Mark the
vendor name and purchase order number on the top surface of each forging using paint. Additional
markings may be specified on the component drawing and must be traceable to the individual
certification.
Plate: Identify and mark per ASTM A 387 (Section 9) and ASTM A 20 (Section 13.1). Mark the vendor
name and purchase order number on the top surface of each plate using paint. Additional markings
may be specified on the component drawing and must be traceable to the individual certification.
With each shipment, send a legible certified copy of the original mill test report along with any
secondary reports. The report must show conformance to the required specifications. These reports
must be properly identified with the appropriate heat number. All test reports must be traceable to the
heat number marked on the product.
