Grade 9 Organization of the Periodic Table

Quiz Outline

1. Who made the periodic table that we have today and what was so great about his
creation of it?
2. What was used to attempt to extract gold from the body, and what was discovered
instead?
3. Know the symbols and names of the following elements on the periodic table
- the first 18 elements and K, Ca, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, I, Ag, Sn, Au, W, Hg, Pb, U.
4. Know different characteristics of metals, non-metals, and metalloids.
- Use the video, lab, and family groups to help you out, if needed
5. Know where the different family groups are located on the periodic table
6. Know characteristics of the different family groups, including their reactivity in relation
to each other (ie. Are alkali metals, or alkaline earth metals more reactive?)
7. Be able to recognize the different parts of an element box on the periodic table
(element name, atomic number, atomic mass, element symbol)
