2.1 Potable Water Supply System

2.1.1 Supply Piping System

Potable water piping system is made up of Reinforced Thermosetting Resin Plastic (RTRP) Pipe
for diameter 200mm manufactured by Amiantit Pipe Industries and Unplasticized polyvinyl
chloride (uPVC) pipes and fittings for diameter 160mm,110mm, 63mm,32mm are manufactured
by MMP.
Viking Johnson Maxi fit Brand Coupling &Adapter diameter 200mm,150mm,100mm are installed
in all joint connections including Tie-in between RTRP Fittings and Gate valvesuited for16 bars
(230 psi) working pressure. All pipes are protected by IPF PE detectable warning tape with black
color marking in Arabic and English and laid 300 mm above pipeline.
2.1.2 Gate Valve

Ductile Iron Gate Valves are manufactured by AVK Saudi Valve Manufacturing Co. Ltd. With
nominal diameter ranges from ON 200, ON 150, ON 100 .Each valve are fixed with extension
spindle with elevation average of 1.0m to1. 8 m from the ground surface. Specified nominal
working pressure is 16 bar (1598) KPA for this type of material.

2.1.4 Fire Hydrant

AVK dry barrel fire hydrant, high pressure Model 2700 is manufactured by AVK Saudi Valves
Manufacturing Co. Ltd. It is a compression style hydrant that opens against water flow &incorporates
drain valves is opened. The hydrant feature a safety traffic section for easy reinstallation in the event a
vehicle strikes the hydrant.
A total of 21 units AVK hydrant covering the entire site with buried depth ranges from 1200mm up to
2200mm.
Other Features:
Meets or exceeds AWWA (502 latest revision and UL and FM requirements).
High Pressure 200 Psi.
Ductile Iron Nozzle Section, Barrel Section & Base.
Low Weight.
UV-Resistant Polyester coating above ground, epoxy/bitumen coating below ground
Minimum 5 X value bore for high flow rating.
Hydrant removable under pressure from the main valve and up.
Traffic section for easy reinstallation after being knocked-off.
Extensions available in lengths of 6-60 with 6 increments.

360 rotation possible.

UL Listed and FM Approved.

SECTION 3
INSTALLATION & COMMISSIONING
3.0 Section 3 - INSTALLATION & COMMISSIONING

3.1 Water Supply System

3.1.1 Supply Piping System

Before commissioning, check the following consideration to determine the properoperation of the system:
a) Ensure all fittings are well sealed &properly joined, free from anydamages
b) Check & ensure that pipe bedding &fitting materials and free fromobstruction that may damage the
pipeline
c) Ensure the availabilityof clean water during testing.
d) Ensuretest pressure properly conducted in all pipelines
e) Ensure all pipelines are properly chlorinated &flushed with clean water

3.1.2 GATE VALVES

Preliminary check to be considered prior to commissioning:
a) Ensure that valve assembly isproperly joined, aligned, supported &freefrom an damages &defects.
Ensurethat all bolts are tight & gasketinstalled as required.
b) Check potable supply system with water pressure
c) Ensure that all buried valves are fully sea led with tape wrapping materials &ensure the rigidity of each
fittings & anchoring assembly.
d) Ensure that the locations of the valves are free from congested area thatma hamper each operation
&maintenance.

3.1.4 FIRE HYDRANT

Check to be considered prior to commissioning:
a) Ensure that fire hdrant is properly Installed
b) Ensure pressure test is conducted and passed the test
c) Ensure additional information; refer to installation instructions
(Catalogue/Cuts Section)

SECTION 4
OPERATING INFORMATION
4.0 SECTION 4-OPERATINGINFORMATION

4.1 Water Supply

4.1 .1 Supplying Piping System

The System operates at a given pressure fromthe main PotableWaterline Supplied from Adjacent
Project, which is plus(+) or minus(-)3 bars. The isolation valve box areprovided to control or
Shutoff theflow of Water if necessary or in maintenance purpose.

4.1.2 Gate Valve

To operate the buried Gate Valve with extension spindle, just openthe cast iron surface box,
color blue with "W" marking usingfabricated wrench & rotate the valve in clockwise direction to
close &Counter clockwise to open the valve

4.1.4 Fire Hydrant

To operate AVK Fire Hydrant, Removedthe hose cap, connect the firehoseto the nozzle & open
it by rotating the top Operating nut in thecounter clockwise rotation using AVK Operating
Wrench.

SECTION 5
MAINTENANCE INFORMATION
5.0 Section 5 - MAINTENANCE INFORMATION

5.1 Routine Checks, Inspection & Maintenance

5.1.1 Visually inspect all valves, pipes &fitting for leaks & physically
Integrity
5.1 .2 For Repair and or maintenance work, simply close the isolationValve the affected area using
fabricated wrench by opening thesurface valve box & rotate the isolation valve box in clockwisedirection.
Always keep valve in clean condition.
5.1.3 Fire Hydrant should be visually inspected & kept in a fully closed
position while not in use

5.2 Preventive Maintenance

5.2.1 Gate Valves &Pipe Fittings

Check all valves, pipe fittings for. leaks &Monthly physical condition.

5.2 .2 Fire Hydrant

Inspection to be conducted Quarterly (4 times/Yearfor leaks &Damages

5.3 Fault Diagnosis & Correction

5.3.1 The system should be maintained I inspected regularly. Incase of possible problems occur:
a) Occurrence of leaks-
Usually leaks occurred in the joint fittings of gate valves & pipe joints.Close the entire isolation valve to
prevent water pressure from reaching/replacement in the affected section of fittings.
Commonly applies to external pipes &fitting valves.

b) Valve Malfunction-

Check the water pressure in the system maybe isolation valves are closed, preventing water pressure from
reaching the vaIve in question, Isolation valves should be always open. Valves are factory tested & no
maintenance is required except the gate valve physical condition has been deteriorated for a long time of
service damaged & requires immediate replacement.
c) Fire Hydrant-

A partially open hydrant will jet water through the drain outlets wash away any soil blocking restraining
the hydrant to themain.AVK Fire hydrant is factory tested & lubricated & should be kept in full closed
position while not in use. To test the drainage is by removing one of the hose cap & fill the hydrant with
water place the palm on one hand over the outlet nozzle opening. As the water drain from the hydrant, it
should create a noticeable suction. If this fails, then the drain valve assembly should be removed &
inspected. If the drain valve is clear may be the drain outlet is plugged from outside the fire hydrant&
clearing the drain outlet.
