To design a souvenir shop selling primarily selling souvenir relating to a particular topic or theme.
The items may be mugs, t-shirt, post cards, handmade collections & other souvenirs.

SCOPE

Tourist attraction, employment to earliest residents etc.

Ancient mural paintings, antique bronzes, old coins, models of temples, and megalithic structures are
of major tourist attraction.

INN - A house or a building which provide accommodation with food and drinks for travelers.

DHABA road side pit stop restaurant mainly for truck drivers and night travelers, mainly serves local
wood with midnight service.

Area which connects valyangadi gujarathi street to beach road.

To provide amenities for travelers, truck drivers, tourists and customers from valyangadi

SCOPE

Analyzing the present infrastructure of valyangadi, the main road way connects the beach road act as
an entry way for goods vehicles to the market. The main vehicles that carry goods to valyangadi, parked
in the area near to Gujarathi Street. And this area serves no services to the market and customers.

Proposing a dhaba and inn in this area can provide better infrastructure facilities like,

To enhance the beauty and livability of the city by protecting its historic design legacy, reinforcing the
identity of its neighbourhoods, harmoniously integrating new structures with existing buildings and
the natural environment, and improving the vitality, appearance and security of streets and public
spaces.

SCOPE
CULTURAL CENTRE

AIM
To preserve cultural values of Calicut and to make available these to the public.
SITE :

Two Sites have been indentified for the proposal of cultural centre.
1. At Mananchira , near the Commissioners office plot area 8000sqm.
2. At Thali, opp Zamorian School. plot area - 10,000sqm.

Why 2 proposals?
The two site have extremely different characteristics and also different culture. Mananchira
have a formal atmosphere and a different culture with respect to kuttichira area.
The governmental functions and the formal atmosphere can be taken as a theme for the cultural centre
of mananchira. It will be more concentrated on research and study purposes.
The cultural centre in kuttichira will concentrated on performing arts and the cultural art forms related
to the hindu and muslim settlement around the kuttichira
SCOPE:
Calicut is the city with wide diversity of culture. From the time immemorial the Malabar area was
well flourished in arts and culture,
Because of theforeigninvaders and influence of other cities Malabar area was filled with cultural
diversities and food diversity
Kozhikode has made some of the significant contributions in the field of Malayalam language. The
famous intellectual debate for Vedic scholars to win the coveted position of Pattathanam takes place
at Thali temple during the month of Thulam.
Not olny in Language, Calicut had made lot of contributions in the field of Musics, Art forms, Temple
Arts Murals and Painting and also in Martial arts.

Temple art forms like Ramanattam, Krishnanattam are evolved and formed in Malabar area. The
identity of kerala, Kadhakali, is also a part of malabar Art forms. There are records and proof saying
Kadhakali is evolved from Krishnanattam.

Preserving history and cultural records in an authentic way

OBJECTIVES:

A cultural centremainly stands for preserving the history of culture and arts with out loosing its
original essence.
It also promote and help to the persons who perform this type of art forms.Through this we are
actually helping those art forms and the community which performs it

An Exhibition
An well designed space to exhibit and preserve old memories. The remaining of art forms, miniature
models, literatureremaining, old scripts can be exhibit there. This will help the others to know what
was our old past.

Library Space
This will a good source for those who love to learn about the art and cultural history of Calicut.
This library contains all collections and book remains of old glory of Calicut. This will help the
people who doing research and studies about Kozhikode and its culture. Also we can sell informative
books to those who need
A Performing Theatre
This will help to arrange public show and performance. People can watch the performance and
understand the what it was, lively. These will help the artist to earn and get proper recoganisation.

An Open Amphiteater
This space can be used for different performance, lectures and classes.

For conducting Formal functions and meetings.
REVITILIZATION OF CANAL

AIM:
To revitalize the canal and waterways.

Refinement of space with respect to the purpose and activity

SCOPE:
Over exploitation can be reduced by converting it as an active space
