Learning Outcome Example Course

1) Written Communication In core English classes at Purdue University, the main ENGL 10600
focus is learning how to communicate in different First-Year
ways. For example, I have had to communicate through Composition
emails, literacy narratives, analysiss, and a research
paper.
2) Information Literacy The most prominent assignment I have completed that ENGL 10600
involved information literacy would be my research First-Year
paper at the end of my first semester here at Purdue. Composition

3) Oral Communication Oral communication is used heavily in basic COM 11400

communications classes. I took a speech class my Fundamentals
second semester here at Purdue where oral of Speech
communication was the only means by which you were Communication
graded.
4) Science It doesnt matter what you major in here at Purdue, you EAPS 10500
are required to take two science classes to complete The Planets
your core requirements. I myself am not strong in the
science field, so I decided to take a class that would
play to my strong suits and not be your typical
chemistry, biology, or physics.
5) Science, Technology, and Science, technology, and society is another one of the EAPS 10600
Society core requirements for every major, however only one of Geoscience in
these classes is needed. Again, I chose one that would the Cinema
be different than what everyone else was taking. This
class involved natural disasters, and part of the teaching
was through watching movies.
6) Mathematics/Quantitative Being an accounting and finance major, I will sadly be MA 16020
Reasoning using this learning outcome for the next four years here Applied
at Purdue. Currently, I put this outcome to use every Calculus II
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during my Calculus 2
class.
7) Human Cultures: Humanities are another required core class for every SPAN 10100
Humanities degree, and a great example of how you can apply this Spanish Level I
outcome is by taking a foreign language.
8) Human Cultures: While being required for your degree, this outcome is PSY 100000
Behavioral and Social quite easy to earn credit for while you are in high Introduction To
Sciences school. I earned credit for psychology when I took the The Science
AP test as a junior, so this outcome was already taken And Fields of
care of once I got to Purdue. Psychology
