How to Give a Presentation

Dos and Donts
+
Donts
n Do NOT put a ton of text on one slide with no visuals. No one
wants to read everything that you are telling the audience on
the slide. It overwhelms the audience and makes them lose
focus very quickly. Dont put a whole paragraph of writing
on a slide. Words on the slides should be short and clear.
They should represent the main points of what you are trying
to say, or give key dates and information. Slides should have
visuals to help the audience understand what you are saying.
(See arent you already tired of reading all of this on this
slide?)

n Do NOT just stand up here and read off of the slide. Do NOT
stand with your back turned to the audience as you read from
the slide. The slide should act as a reminder for you of the
main ideas of the slide, with key words and dates to help. But
the bulk of what you are saying should be in your head or
written down on a note sheet that you can reference
throughout the presentation.
