1. Outline of breakdown
While anchored at a Japanese port, an M0 alarm occurred. Upon rushing to the control room, an alarm of
SUB-CONTROL PANEL (located in the workshop) CRT FAIL was found displayed on the CRT of the
control room. Entering the workshop, staff attempted to operate the CRTs display buttons but could not
activate the CRT.

2. Cause
From an investigation, the cause was surmised to be deterioration due to aging of semiconductors in the
signal converter between the control unit and the sub-control panel.

3. Repair
The parts concerned were replaced with spares and operation was restored to normal.
