Malacaang announced on Sunday that the country will host FIBA World Cup in
2023 together with Indonesia and Japan.
We thank everyone for their tireless dedication and hard work to make this hosting
possible. It will be a great opportunity for basketball-loving country like the
Philippines to show to the world our love for the sports and our unity as a people,
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement.

success, Roque added.

Winning the bid to host FIBA 2023 World Cup together with Japan and Indonesia
marks the countrys re-emergence and rising prominence in the world of
international sports, Andanar said in a separate statement.
Andanar said that hosting the FIBA 2023 World Cup would help increase the
number of tourists and add stimulus to businesses and investments.

We laud the initiative, hard work, and commitment of the Samahang Basketbol ng
Pilipinas and Mr. Manny V. Pangilinan in championing the country in securing he
coveted games, the communications secretary said.
The FIBA 2023 World Cup is set to commence in Manila, Okinawa, and Jakarta
with group stages to be played in the said venues. /je
