A case study of implementing Digital transformation in Jaipur Smart City

Abstract:

The conceptualization of Smart City varies depending on the level of development, willingness to
change, resources and aspirations of the city residents. A smart city contains a wish list of
infrastructure and services harnessing smart solutions that will enable cities to use technology,
information and data to improve infrastructure and services. This can be a long term goal and cities
can work towards developing such comprehensive infrastructure incrementally, adding on layers
of ‘smartness’. Comprehensive development in this way will improve quality of life, create
employment and enhance incomes for all, especially the poor and the disadvantaged, leading to
inclusive Cities. This research is the first known study to evaluate the benefits of using Digital
technologies in smart cities and thereby provide valuable inputs to governments and institutions
driving initiatives to build more smart cities across the world. This research on the Jaipur Smart
City will help the Indian government, which has planned more than 25 smart cities, to plan the
Billions of dollars of investment on Digital transformation in a more effective manner.
