Established in 1965 the Beximco group has expanded
over the past 40 years and is today the most diversified industrial conglomerate in Bangladesh, representing nearly 17% of the entire market capitalization of Dhaka Stock Exchange. Employing over 25,000 people including 2,690 qualified professionals and dealing in a wide range of consumers and industrial products for domestic and global markets, Beximco has fast become one of the leading foreign exchange earners in the country’s private sector. Textile and Garments is the largest and fastest growing division of the Beximco Corporation and presently accounts for half the Corporation’s business turnover and profit. Other major areas are the Pharmaceuticals, a Ceramics Division, a Real Estate Development and IT Division among others.
BACKGROUND OF THE CORPORATION
In the late 60s the two brothers A S F Rahman and
Salman F Rahman, currently the Chairman and Vice Chairman of Beximco Corporation, decided to grow their ancestor’s business. And by the process, on 16th November 1965 the Beximco Corporation was formed. The Corporation really emerged as a giant in between 1990 to 1996. Since then it has never turned back.

Beximco is the largest private sector industrial
conglomerate in Bangladesh. It has a turnover of Tk 16.5 billion and employees 25,488 people. Beximco has 152,000 share holders and contributes to 17% and 8% of the market capitalization in Dhaka Stock Exchange and Chittagong Stock Exchange respectively. Beximco industries include textiles, basic chemicals, pharmaceuticals, jute, marine foods, and real state. Beximco services include engineering, media, information technology, trade and financial services.
BUSINESS STRATEGY
In keeping with the vision and philosophy to be a
truly strategic business partner to customers Beximco has made every effort to be involved at all levels of the business process. The in-house Design and Product Development team is backed with a dedicated sampling facility for allowing Beximco to assist customers in their product development process and ensure a relevant and timely product for the market. In short, its business strategy is to be simply fast and efficient. Goal of one of the divisions of the Beximco Corporation, the Textile & Garments Division, is to become the preferred partner for sourcing high quality fabrics and clothing from Bangladesh. The Textile & Garments Division has the potential to make an important contribution to the nation’s growing ready-to-wear garments’ export sector.
2 CUSTOMERS ANALYSIS
Beximco Corporation has a wide range of customers.
The Pharmaceuticals Division, manufacturing different types of medicine, has domestic consumers as well as foreign consumers. The Ceramics Division manufacturing Bone China and Porcelain table ware for buyers such as Royal Doulton and Libbey in Europe and USA. The Textile & Garments Division sells to retailers such as Zara, GAP, JCPenny, Federal Stores, NEXT, H&M brands including DKNY, Hugo Boss, Polo, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Levi’s, Dockers, Geoffrey Beene and Arrow among others.
