2 TYPES OF LAN CABLING


1. STRAIGHT THROUGH CABLE
- Use to connect different types of devices
Examples:
- Connect a computer to a switch
- Connect a computer to a cable/DSL modem’s LAN port
- Connect a router’s WAN port to a cable/DSL modem’s LAN port
- Connect a router’s LAN port to a switch
2. CROSS OVER CABLE

- Use to connect same type of device.

Example:

- Connect 2 computers together

CROSSTALK- is a disturbance caused by the electric or magnetic fields of one


telecommunication signal affecting a signal in an adjacent circuit.

TOOLS NEEDED in LAN CABLING:


1. UTP Cable
2. RJ 45
3. Crimping Tool
4. LAN Tester

STEPS/PROCEDURES in LAN CABLING:


1.Cut the one end of the cable
2. Strip/Skin the outer sleeve of the UTP Cable
3. Arrange the color combination
4. Cut straight the conductors
5. Insert the wires to RJ 45
6. Insert the RJ 45 to crimp the cables
7. Test the cable
