EVAN CHECKS IN TO EURODISNEY

My mam and I went to the
airport and we met eighty
three other people who
went to Eurodisney too! We
were waiting for three
hours for the flight. We got
rolls and bars at the airport.
We took off around 12
O'clock and I got a can of
coke. We got to Paris at 2
O'clock. Then we were wait-
ing in the airport for about
an hour. Then we finally got
a bus to Disney. The bus
took at least one hour and
thirty minutes. We finally
got to Disney Paris at 5
O'clock. We got dinner at
6:15. Then we got to the
hotel at 8:15. We went
shopping and bought pre-
sents. It was class! They
had things that light up and
you fling them in the air.
They went up over the roofs
of houses. We got up at 8:15
for breakfast. The rolls
were so nice! We had apple
juice. We got to the Euro-
Disney park at 9:15 a.m. and
we didn't leave until 6pm.
We had V.I.P. passes. We
went on Space Mountain
first. The first time it did-
n't go fast but the second
time it went really fast! It
was shaking and all!! It was
just my friend and I on it,
no adults except for Thomas
who was my helper. He was
nice and kind. He was funny,
really funny! My mam went
on all the rides. She went on
the Tower of Terror twice.
My favourite was Thunder
Mountain. It didn't go too
slow or too fast. We got
wedges there and my mam
brought rolls. I'd actually go
again. We went on loads of
rides. There was one and it
was like a horseshoe. It
went way up and back down
again. We had a great time.
We flew home on Friday.
We were wrecked after it.

 A FEW WORDS FROM MR. O’NEILL
Dear Parents/Guardians,
The weather has been poor for the
months of September and especial-
ly October. As we slowly recover
from the dangerous Hurricane
Ophelia we prepare for another
bad storm to hit us in the next day
or so. Hopefully it will not last too
long and will not damage property
or anything more serious. As the
evenings and mornings get darker
the Hallowe’en break can’t be far
behind. It is time to make the
Barm brack and to start to carve
the pumpkins! At the moment we
are busy organizing our annual
Witches’ Walk, which is our major
fundraiser for the year. This year
we are upgrading a lot of our
school equipment. We need to buy
new Maths and Science equipment
to compliment initiatives in the
school such as Team Teaching for
Numeracy and Mata sa Rang. Once
again I wish to thank everyone in
advance for their generosity in
supporting the school. It is grate-
PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION NEWS
We the Parents’ Association would like
to welcome all the staff and students
back for another fun filled year in
Bunscoil Mhuire! Each member of the
Parents’ Association thoroughly en-
joyed working with the school and the
general community in organising dif-
ferent activities for the betterment
of the children in the school. Since
June we have been busy completing
our second stage of upgrading the
school yard. We renovated the farm
set, added another two Lego tables
and added five wall magnetic board
games in the top yard; these include
Ludo, Chess, Draughts, Noughts and
Crosses and Snakes and Ladders. We
hope that all the children in the school
get great use and enjoyment from
these additions to their play areas.

The boys and girls have been play-
ing football matches and both
teams have had very good league
campaigns. Sadly neither teams got
through to the finals but the hurl-
ing and camóige will be coming up
soon and we wish them luck in
those campaigns. Once again we
had a huge haul of medals at the
cross-country running finals at
Conna. Congratulations to everyone
who took part in all of these events
and who participated so well in
these events. Many thanks to all
the teachers who help with the
teams and who cover classes when
the teams are playing. A big thank
you to the G.A.A. Craobh Eochaill,
for all of their help and support.
Also a big thank you to Steve
O’Connell and Doug Semple for the
Basketball lessons.

We have recommenced our cookery
lessons with the Fifth Class students
and as always we are enjoying it as
much as the students are. They have
started off making scrambled eggs
and from there progress to making
scones, curry, spaghetti Bolognese,
gingerbread men and much more. The
Christmas cards have also been com-
pleted early this year so those who
like to send them abroad have plenty
of time to do so. We would like to say
a huge thank you to everyone who pur-
chased the cards; this has been a huge
success again this year. Also to each
and every student within Bunscoil
Mhuire for their fantastic drawing and
extra-curricular activities with the
pupils and the Parents’ Association
for the cookery classes, which are
in full swing too. Maith sibh ar fad.
We have Grandparents’ Day with
Rang a 4 on Tuesday next and we
look forward to welcoming all the
grandparents on that day. Grand-
parents play a very important role
in our pupils’ lives and it is nice to
celebrate that relationship.
As you are aware a new Parents’
Association have been elected for
the school and we encourage all
parents to get involved with the
Association. I want to take this
opportunity to thank all the volun-
teers, who give their support and
help to our school .

organize and run this event every year
especially to Marian Leamy for all her
hard work. We are looking forward to
seeing all the fabulous costumes. We
wish you all a safe Halloween and enjoy
the mid-term break.

On Monday the 16th of
October there was a re-
ally big storm in Ireland
called Ophelia. It was
really a hurricane. There
were trees being blown
down and even roofs be-
ing blown off school

For Outdoor Classroom Day we went
on a wonderful adventure to the Care
Farm in Castlemartyr. We were very
excited about travelling by bus and
getting to wear our wellies while ex-
ploring the farm. As it was an early
morning visit, we had the very im-
portant job of giving all of the animals
on the farm their breakfast. One of
our favourite animals was a Shetland
pony called Pixie and getting to ride on

We have been very busy in our first
few weeks in Junior Infants, we have
settled into our classes and have been
learning lots. Here is a snapshot of our
learning so far, we have included

in action! We started off the

Aistear started last week and we have
enjoyed the various exciting activities
which we have been completing. The
year group is split into four groups so
we get to work with children from the
other Junior Infants class. In Maths
we have been exploring 2D Shapes and
we have started learning about 3D

Day. We sometimes enter
competitions and we go busk-
