Site selection

 Major criteria
1. Accessibility to major roads: the site must be located near to a major road
or highway for a better access in terms of product delivery
2. Not much affected by the natural calamities (flooding, last slides and etc.):
3. Compatibility with Adjacent Land use: The surrounding areas are
comfortable and appropriate for the proposal

4. Safety and Security: High level of security is required; it should be near at

5. Site Grading, Excavation and Erosion Control: The design of site
improvements should minimize cut-and-fill in order to preserve each site’s
natural terrain to the maximum extent possible.
 Minor Site Criteria
1. Nearest drainage system: this must be considered to avoid prevalence of
diseases coming from the waste product of the factory
2. Power and Water source: the must be accessible in any power or water
source for the continuous ice cream production
3. Utilities, Mechanical, and Telecommunications Equipment: The visual and
noise impacts of utilities, mechanical equipment, data transmission dishes,
towers, and similar antennas and equipment should be mitigated.
4. Nearest source of ingredients: so that the fruits or ingredients are fresher
than the others.

Gross Site Selection


Region 3 is known for a good industrial location site since it is located in
center of Luzon Region. There’s a lot of potential site since the industry
are increasing in the region. Pampanga, Nueva Ecija and Bataan these
provinces are perfect to locate the site because most of the terrain are flat
and abundant to the ingredients used on making ice cream products.
Discrete site selection
After conducting the gross site selection process. The province of Bataan is
the best possible site for the proposed project. An ice cream factory must be
accessible to the other municipality and able to supply their demands. There are
three possible sites that can meet the needs of the proposed structure.

Site Justification

The site that gets the highest score is the municipality of Samal, this site suits
perfectly to the proposed “Wiggies Ice Cream and Foods Factory” it meets the all the
consideration on the list of criteria.

After conducting a site criteria test, the researcher knows where he/she will
locate the proposed project. The result shows that Wiggies Ice Cream and Foods
Factory is suited to the site in Municipality of Samal, Bataan because the site is
accessible to the major road for better access of delivery vehicles that will come and go
on the factory. The chosen site is also not much affected by the natural calamities like
rain since the site have an existing terrain, the water will not stagnate on a single part of
the site. The site is far from the residential area of the municipality so that it will not
affect the people if the production is ongoing. And also, Site Grading, Excavation and
Erosion Control is also considered while conducting the analysis of the sites. The other
are minor criteria’s such as Nearest drainage system, Power and Water source, Utilities,
Mechanical, and Telecommunications Equipment, and Nearest source of ingredients.
These criteria are important to achieve and to sustain the need of the project.

 Physical profile
The Municipality of Samal, is a 4th class municipality in the
province of Bataan, Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a
population of 35,298 people. Samal is situated in the north-eastern portion
of Bataan, 111 kilometres (69 mi) away from Manila. It has a total land
area of 56.30 square kilometres (21.74 sq mi).
Samal is located at 14°46′N 120°33′E.
According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, the municipality has a land
area of 56.30 square kilometers (21.74 sq mi) constituting 4.10% of the
1,372.98-square-kilometre- (530.11 sq mi) total area of Bataan
