A. Ground Shaking
These can vary depending to the location, topography, bedrock type and the
orientation of the fault rupture.
These can also affect the way the seismic waves travel through the ground.
B. Tsunami
Long wavelength oceanic waves generated by the sudden displacement of
seawater.
Can be caused by a shallow earthquake in the sea bed, a underwater volcanic
eruption or a submarine crash.
C. Landslides and Rockfalls
The great movement of the ground can destabilises cliff and mountains that can
cause landslides and rockfalls.
D. Liquefaction
This occurs when waterlogged sediments are agitated by seismic shaking.
This can involve when buildings can sink down into the ground or tilt over.
E. Fire
This can start by broken gas lines and power lines or tipped over wood or
charcoal stove.
These can be a serious problem especially when water lines are broken.
