TREASURER’S REPORT Our illustrious Treasurer, Charlene Cooper, was home with a very bad cold. So we’ll catch up with
her information at the next meeting. Remember, though, your 2018 membership dues are due now, so get them in to Charlene
right away.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Annual Audit of the 2017 Books Our By-Laws require that this be handled by one of our members each year and a
report of the findings made and shared at a forthcoming meeting. Mention was made that we also are indeed a couple of
years behind in getting this done, so picking up those two years will need to be taken care of also. Some names were
mentioned of people who might
be able to do this for us, and we
need to reach out and inquire
with them.
Entertainment and
Fundraising Nothing at this
time.
Hospitality and Greeters
Nothing at this time.
Nominations Committee Jill
Mohn has volunteered to chair
this committee, and she reported
she has everything in control.
Elections of 2018 officers will
take place at the January
meeting.
Real Estate/Club Property
Renee pointed out that our first
monthly power bill since installing
our new HVAC system showed a
whopping amount of $289. She
said she went over to the
company who installed it, and
they sent out a rep to look
everything over. This gentleman
found a couple of connections that needed to be changed and mentioned the possible need for a new thermostat. This will
be investigated, and on request the contractor has also agreed to pick up a good portion of the current power billing fee.
Board of Directors Myron and Debbie gave us an overview of the speakers who spoke at the recent Idaho Horse
Council Annual Meeting. We ended up having just one WRC rep there, Renee, as Paulette Henderson found she couldn’t
make the meeting and Jill was home with a cold. A representative of the U S Forest Service pointed out that Idaho has
around 20,000 miles of trails in the state; and due to reduced staffing and general funding reductions, they are looking for
help on trail maintenance should you like to spend some time out in the beautiful outdoors helping the cause next summer.
Also stressed is that if you come across an area that truly needs clearing or represents a trail hazard to please notify the
closest USFS office to let them know the particulars. Lastly Myron wanted us to know about a new situation regarding
hauling regulations to be known as the ELD Mandate. It’s pretty complicated, but after this meeting he emailed the
document to the membership which I hope you’ll take the time to review.
Royalty It was reported that all our royalty members were riding in Caldwell at the holiday Night-Light parade this
Saturday evening.
Communications Myron wanted us to know that the Idaho Horse Council was finally bequeathed a check from Historical
Racing in the amount of $143,000. Plans are to use it for equine projects, scholarship funding, 4H and general youth
development on youth projects.
Membership Debbie Amsden brought with her tonight a huge inventory of our new Member Packet Folders, and you will
all be so impressed with the beautiful work she did on this project. You’ll truly enjoy reading through all the information
included in this composite. Many thanks to you, Debbie!!
Refreshments Renee and Joyce brought dessert treats tonight, and I believe Board members might take this on for next
month.

1) The Western Riding Club’s Annual Christmas Party, Sunday, December 10. Myrna Barriatua has spent a
good deal of time planning and preparing for this lovely event, and you can plan on having a great time. At
this time, word is that 50-60 members are committed to come. The Reception hour starts at 4:00 pm and
dinner begins serving at 5:00 pm. The Club will provide the entrée, ham and turkey, and members potluck
other dishes. We’ll look to see you all here then.
2) Renee affirmed that nothing firm has been set up with the proposed airport noise testing station they’ve asked to
construct just inside our entrance gate. More on this later next year.
3) It was firmly decided to set aside reconstructing our outdoor arena fencing until next year when we’ll order the
new pipe panels, take down the existing fencing and set these new panels in place. It will be real pretty when
completed.
4) Ada County Posse-ettes invite everyone to attend the last of their winter Play Day Series at the Birt Arena in
Nampa on Sunday, December 17. Sign-ups start at 9:00 am and games begin at 10:00 am.
With all business attended to, Lida made a motion the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Jill. Time was 8:50 pm. Our
January meeting is set for the night of Saturday the 6thd. See you there!
Respectfully submitted,
Joyce Jackson, Secretary
